I'm beginning to lay out a campaign to run for Congress in District 14.

I need recommendations (and a cost approximation) for hiring someone to build me a website and a donation page similar to R.P.'s. And need to know what is involved with getting the capability to accept donations by credit card. And this needs to integrate with the software to file the FEC reports.

The first thing I found by Googling (I haven't contacted them yet) was CompleteCampaigns.com.

Is a web based service like this the way to go? Recommendations?

Right now I'm just to the stage of learning what is required to get started, but I do need to proceed quickly. I'm going to need $40,000 to run a bare bones - very bare - campaign. Filing is December 3rd and the primary is next March.

Maybe tell us a little bit about yourself. Why will you stand out to the voters, etc.

Get involved with your state Campaign for Liberty and ask about one of their candidate training classes.

It would be awfully cool to have the endorsement of the future POTUS.

You will want a lawyer that has experience with election law.

Good idea, assuming Dr. Paul hasn't already committed to helping someone else run. Does anyone know if he has any ideas about "handpicking" a successor?

I've been told that as many as a dozen people have expressed interest in running for Ron's spot in Congress, but so far, as far as I know, only John Gay is firmly committed to run and has, in fact, already started campaigning. He ran against Ron in the last election, so already has an organization in place.

I've downloaded the Campaign Guide from the FEC. My sister is the only one I trust absolutely to do things correctly and will be my treasurer. I've laid out my first quarter page newspaper ad which will introduce my campaign to the public. I've e-mailed CompleteCampaigns and they've already responded briefly. We'll be talking details this next week. This is going to be the key. I've got to get a website up where I can accept donations, but it's got to be affordable. I don't have to file with the FEC before reaching $5,000 in expenditures/funding. I've got to get a campaign bank account.

I've got a lot to do and a short time to get there.

Has the district actually been drawn yet?

No, Rachel cannot advise candidates in that nature AFAIK.

Look, I would be willing to help if I can but I first need an answer on the drunken dog issue.

Yes, redistricting is complete. I haven't heard of any court challenges. District 14 has changed dramatically. Previously it ran from Brazoria County (plus a little bit of Galveston) and ran south just short of Corpus Christi - strongly Republican. The new district removes the central coast area and runs from Brazoria County eastward to Jeffererson County and the Beaumont area - historically Democrat but with a trend toward Republican recently. So the new district's population centers are now Brazoria County, Galveston County and Jefferson County.

Debra Medina was the natural heir apparent to Ron but was redistricted out of 14. She could run, but has said she won't. We expect her to run in her new District 27.

George, Talk to Debra and get the name of the company that did her online donation processing if you can. I might be able to find their name when I get home. They are very good and located in Austin.

Not sure if I've been redistricted out of CD-14 yet or not. I'm afraid to look and find out that I'm now in CD-22 and represented by Pete Olson.

It's not my area. But I think it would be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

It appears to me that more of the Friendswood area is now part of 14 than previously. http://www.texastribune.org/library/data/joint-congressional-redistricting-proposal/

No one is more qualified then Ron Paul. It's hard enough getting him in the white house. But good luck.

I am willing to help out. I just took some very intensive training with YAL and im ready to put it to use.

You are going to need to raise more than $40k if you want to win. In RP's district we need to run a liberty candidate that will win. They are obviously prime for one. 40k will not cut it.

PM me some more info on you and this bid. I am willing to jump on board and go all in if this is a serious bid.

I'd like to see a short biography of you that shows any experience and qualifications you bring to the table and why you will be a viable candidate.

The GOP Establishment will be heavily targeting this. $100,000 would be roughly what you'd need for the Primary, which you'll need to go all-in for because the General will be a cakewalk. However, there are many, many GOP candidates itching to take a crack at this seat.
