I think the word he is missing is "RESTORE." ;) Secondly, how can we destroy something that has been irrevocably broken for decades?

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/07/30/1000683/-Fareed-Zakaria:Tea-Party-will-blow-up-the-country?via=siderec

A summary of his interview:

They'll blow up the country

They'll hold the credit of the U.S. hostage

Others say they are counter constitutional

They hijack the entire system

They don't understand the workings of democracy

They have not been elected as dictators of the U.S.

fundamentally anti-democratic, counter constitutional

extraordinary act of hostage taking

They've already damaged the good standing of the U.S.

Fareed Calls on Obama to invoke 14th Amendment

It's a national emergency almost like a war

Tea Party congressman relies on "magic" with their claims

Am I the only one enjoying this emotional breakdown on the part of the elites?

I am not enjoying this. They are becoming frighteningly unhinged. It's like watching the Nazis before they started throwing undesirables into concentration camps. What do you think the lemmings will say when they haul off the 'antidemocratic', 'financial terrorists' into the prisons? They'll support it as necessary (and cheer it on) for their master's vision for 'hope and change' no doubt

Interesting blurb in the comment section. Not all lefties are mistaken:

This is a systematic attempt to destroy the independence of the Senate and the presidency and make them totally submissive to the will of a small minority in the House. They've already achieved step 1: deposing the more moderate corporate GOP leadership and taking over the House. Now they're working on step 2.

No your not the only one. I find it wonderful. I for one hope they do destroy washington, but I don't think they will or are they even headed in that direction. Its just political talk and its all coming out at once. next week it will be something else.

They are reacting like addicts do when an intervention is introduced.

I like how Fareed refers to raising taxes as "revenue enhancement." I am so happy with the few tea party members who are resisting both parties lock-step. They're being blamed for holding the country hostage and in reality it's all B.S. If the republicans or democrats could agree, they'd have a solution. The tea party is the cure, and they're doing exactly what they said they would do if elected. Someone should tell Fareed that THAT's what democracy is - upholding the promises you made to your constituents. Not compromising by giving the out of control neocons and dems exactly what they want - a blank check.

Nothing transformative will happen until we capture the leadership in either the House or Senate, which I fear will take too long.

wow. just wow.

i have a question... i haven't really been following politics too closely for too long. it this typical?

i mean, when there was a .gov shutdown when clinton was in office did the libs have a collective meltdown?? or is this something completely unlike anything any of you have ever seen?? just curious...

The debt ceiling in itself is a non-issue. The problem is the underying debt and budget deficit. It's basicly baseless fearmongering blaming everything on the Tea Party.

Zakaria is a corporatist puppet. "Good boy, Fareed, here's a biscuit, a hooker, a prime spot and your own private security guards to keep the filthy mundanes far away from you".

They had an apoplectic, seizure inducing hissy fit. They figuratively lay on the floor screaming with a temper tantrum that would make any three year old proud. Nothing new, happens every single time.

Fareed is an avowed globalist. He trembles at the notion of people standing up the defend to principles of this country because he's working so hard to break down our sovereignty.

Yeah but what does that really say about Odumbo, We all know where he stands.

Sun Tzu said to know your enemy as well as or better than he knows himself. I understand the sentiment of your comment but I think it's small thinking.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_of_War

And this would be "Odumbo" and Fareed's favorite text from the same book:

Therefore one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the most skillful. Seizing the enemy without fighting is the most skillful.

EVERYONE should read this!!!

Am I the only one enjoying this emotional breakdown on the part of the elites?

Oh, no. You're not the only one. I enjoy watching the leftists (on both sides) nut up, but I have my concerns.

I like it because it is like watching someone holding their fist around a lit firecracker and they're ranting and raving about how you shouldn't be telling them to throw it before the fuse reaches the powder. You're coming towards them with spit-wet fingers trying to extinguish the fuse, but they just keep on telling you how stupid and wreckless you are being, with statements like "Your actions are going to be catastrophic."; all the while their fists are getting tighter and tighter around an explosive device.

My concern is not that the firecracker is going to blow their hand off—frankly, I think they deserve it, and will relish every moment when they're screaming in agony. My concern is that they are such idiots, that when the firecracker goes off and they try to decide why they lost their hand, they will say, "Well, this happened because the firecracker was not big enough. We just need a bigger firecracker."
