You know, if Cops offered to get you a way home, like one officer drives your car (with your permission) and just gives you a lift back to your house, I'd have a hell of a lot more respect for them. But as it stands, they let their buddies off, arrest other Cops they dont like, and we get to pay for it, usually.

You know what? That was me. They got rid of guys like me awhile ago. Also, I was the guy who would change your tire for you for free. I wasn't even on the department payroll... I was a reserve officer. I was just trying to make my county a better place... and no, it didn't matter if the people I was changing the tire for were hot lol ;) Seriously, peace officers need to be reinstated and the roid raged druggies need to be tossed or thrown in jail depending on their actions.

Excuse me as I ramble a bit, just want to encourage folks to take care of your own and know & understand the limitations of the professionals in your area.

And, another plug for getting a multi-band transceiver radio.

The shit that you're not hearing in your own neighborhood would amaze you.

My intention is not to rip on all pro fire fighters, but I do question Captains/Chiefs/C2's motives and abilites -and certainly in my area.

I fear we're about to go through something similar to AFPVet out this way with our distict's volunteer fire brigades. The skinny is that the new incoming chief of the professional fire fighters is more interested in keeping his crews busy and in overtime than he is in with working with the *ahem* mundane volunteer brigades.:( Hawaii=Union

It may not be the same everywhere, but the last brush fire I listened to unfold on my multi-band really showed me a contrast between the pros vs. the volunteers.

The volunteer group was certainly more enthusiastic and also appeared to get a lot more accomplished, asking professional command control for more work, advising C2 of more details (very thorough), and experencing three seperate anxious moments when C2 wasn't able to account for the whereabouts of some crews from both volunteer and professional. The volunteers certainly sounded more concerned with everyones whereabouts and initiated the head count/whereabouts each time.

I can maybe understand C2 losing track of the volunteers (I don't excuse it) but I can't for the life of me figure out how C2 could lose track of their own. Especially in the day time and with air/helis. (the video shows the terrain)

More than a few real WTF moments in the whole episode, and I was really left with the impression that the pros should have relinquished command.:(

I'm not a fire fighter volunteer or otherwise, so after listening to the episode I wasn't sure if I was missing something or what. Then later in the week I tuned into an amateur radio net and heard the same analysis from one of the volunteer ff's (can't recall his title, but he was up the ladder -so to speak;)) and another radio operator with a friend in the HFD. Confirmed.

Ain't no substitute for taking care of your own, and in your own area.

-Everything sounds peachy in the news report-

...Then there's the Hawaii Island Pahala Fire Captain who was finally let go this year after he struck and killed a pedestrian and fled the scene back in '05...
...but that's another story.

Again, take care of your own and know & understand the limitations of the professionals in your area.

Citizens would've been sent to prison for their 3rd DUI offense in NJ: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Violations/dui.htm

This parasite got off easy. She should've been fired, had her license suspended for 10 years, been fined $5000, and received 180 days in prison like any other NJ resident would!
