Count me as ignorant, selfish and uninformed.:D They don't like fighting the real thing as opposed to soft establishment types which have littered the halls of congress for decades. Nelson Rockefeller isn't walking through that door.

How can we sleep at night?

Who is responsible for this upcoming disaster? Ultimately, the voters who put tea partiers in office. When grandpa is kicked out of the nursing home, and your aunt dies because her hospital shut down, our neighbors, friends and relatives who voted for these irresponsible ideologues should be called to account. Votes do matter, and sometimes they kill people.

Our economy is not a handgun but it is serious business. Very serious. When it is being wielded as a weapon of mass destruction – as has been the case with this Congress – I have to ask why we don’t require members of legislative bodies to pass a test of economic safety before handing it over to them?

Instead, we watch economically incompetent Tea Party asshats and Republican thugs propose to destroy social programs that promote and protect the public good. Signature American programs such as social security and Medicare, as well as the budgets of federal regulatory agencies (such as the FAA and FDA) that serve the best health and welfare interests of all Americans, are threatened by those who would trade in “the public good” for continued inequitable tax advantages for the rich and maintaining corporate tax loopholes so their donors can easily pass through them.

This is not fair and it is not right.

Essentially, political extremists armed with dangerous ideas tethered to a failed economic model have been handed a loaded economic handgun without the requisite economic safety training. They say they have taken aim at lowering the national debt but they fully intend to do so by dismantling social programs and creating collateral damage to anything that supports “the public good” while they do it.

Nothing about the costs of Obama's wars that he promised to end? He said we could take it to the bank, but it turns out, banks don't accept promises to end wars as payment, especially broken promises.

This "crisis" actually presents an opportunity to balance the federal budget today. Not next month, not next year, not 10 years from now, but today.

I had hoped some of the TEA party crowd would have made that point.

I read Democratic Underground sometimes. It seems like most of the posts are made by idiots who have no idea about economics. Not only are they ignorant but they seem like a very angry bunch. One of the posts I read yesterday asked if Obama could just print money to pay of the bills. What's really scary is that most of them think based on emotion instead of actually understanding how things work in the real world. For all the talk about science and dissing conservatives about their faith etc, these people wouldn't understand science if it hit them right in the gut. Case in point - global warming...

What *really* makes me angry, is that 99% of these people seem to think the liberty movement as a whole approves of the damage large corporations continue to do to this country... Then we have a bunch of them lumping all Tea Party people together, saying that they'd only focus on entitlement spending and completely disregard military spending, when this is clearly not the case. The problem continues to be that people associate the teo-cons with every single Tea Partier. Our very existence on these forums proves that theory wrong instantly, and if these people had any brains at all, they'd look outside their self-imposed shells.

Their idealism is hilarious, though. I will give them that. People say Ron Paul supporters are idealistic... I say the people continuing to believe that the entitlement programs and over-the-top military spending actually helps this country are hopelessly idealistic. The regulatory agency line in the second quote REALLY cracked me up as well.

By the way, this is similarly related... my mom and I were driving behind some guy yesterday who had an anti-war bumper sticker on his car, but continued to proudly sport an Obama sticker... I laughed for about five minutes straight. People from both sides of the aisle have so many blinders on, it's unreal.

The Tea Party is generally very cold if not outright hostile towards Wall Street and crony capitalism. The left will never openly admit this though. Even Robert Reich admitted as much:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/05/29/INOV1JK6IH.DTL

Tea Partiers have almost as much contempt for big business and the Street as they do for government. After all, the Tea Party was born in anger over the Wall Street bailout.

This is the heart of the impending civil war in the GOP.

So far, the Tea Partiers appear to be winning. In a recent speech to the Economic Club of New York, House Speaker John Boehner told the movers of Wall Street and big business that House Republicans would demand "cuts of trillions, not just millions" as a condition for raising the debt limit.

I post at a liberal online rag owned by MSNBC and sometimes I get a little out done by how they believe the BS that they are told. I hang in there at the chance I might say something that might make a light come on for someone.

I just get tired of being linked to rich people. Just because I am against Obama and the RINOs doesn't mean I have Wall Street connections.

I could add the wealth of everyone I personally know and together we probably couldn't even make one middle class income out of it.

Then you have to ask why Wall Street is going NUTS over the debt limit not being raised yet, and then the Democrats illogically conclude that the people calling for no debt ceiling increase are backed by the banker-elite. Think about it. Increasing the debt limit would actually be helping the elite on Wall Street, which is what the democrats and RINOs are proposing.

(Disclaimer, I'm not talking about the rich folks who earned it on their own merit. I have nothing against them.)

The very concept that we have to pile on more debt in order to protect out credit rating, makes my head want to explode.

They hate anyone who tries to get in the way of the policies of their master Obama and attempt to stop the behavior of the government that they worship like it's God. They are truly disgusting, juvenile people. I used to have respect for them during the Bush years, but they've proven to be just as bad as neocons. They're total hypocrites and fools.

They also have no interest in admitting that there's another solution to reaching their credit limit besides raising it. Like cutting up the credit card and throwing the pieces away. Which is, of course, what consumers do when they decide responsible behavior is better than the alternative. Like, when they finally grow up...

So, you want to pay the bills (entitlements like SSI) but you're against the wall with your outrageous debt. But you can't stop buying non-necessities (Department of Education, four or five wars) even though you don't even like the stuff you're buying. Well? Someone has to make a tough choice, right?

I am far from wealthy I just like to be left alone and I hate that some of my money is being used to put people in prison for drugs, kill people in foreign lands, police the world and bully nations to accepting what ever BS we are offering. This is the part of what we do that I think just sucks so bad.

I don't care if old people get a pension from the government hell the government has been stealing from them for years. I don't mind us feeding our own people. Giving medical care to the needy is alright too I guess. I don't like being searched to travel and I really don't think it prevents any terror attacks. Only Ron Paul fights for what I think our government should be and that I why I am here. It is a bitch but I can't just turn off what I see, hear, and, feel. I can't help but chase after true freedom.

I mean, I get tired of being labeled as a corporate shill (or some other nonsense) because I oppose increasing the debt ceiling. The democrats really haven't thought this one through as to who really benefits from increasing the debt ceiling.

It reminds me of how they kept telling everyone that health insurance companies were big nasty evil corporations for months, and then passed Obamacare, which makes it illegal not to buy health insurance from aformentioned big nasty evil corporations. . . . Like, "Duh!"

That's it exactly. I'm so frustrated with explaining that the debt limit has been raised how many times already and what good has that done us? It's gotten us to where we are now, so what makes people think more debt will make debt go away is just beyond me completely.

They are well intentioned. Unfortunately they do not understand the nature of the establishment and the degradation of the socialist system. A person who wishes to improve their endurance or strength works out hard, experiencing pain. In their effort to avoid any and all pain, they advocate laying down and rotting, just a slow downward spiral.

We're winning. Just keep doing what we're doing. Keep indirectly plugging away at the audience, while directly showing how immoral, impractical, and inconsistent the statists are, whatever flavor of statist.
