I don't want him running against Rand in 2016.

Just saying.....

So, are you thinking him stepping down makes that more or less likely?

Now is the time to endorse Dr. Paul, Jim. Then angle for a VP nod. :)

Definitely.

Can't find anything about an LBJ law for South Carolina.

Besides, he'd get crushed by Ron in his re-election campaign anyway ;)

Sanford or Haley will take this slot.

Sanford or Haley will take this slot.

Either of those would be decent.

I still have mixed feelings about Sanford. I hope he gets his personal life straightened out. But legislatively, I'd have to take him over pretty much any senator outside of Rand and Lee right now.

Sanford would need a catalyst to revitalize his career at this point. Haley will be running for reelection, won't she?

Winning the party nomination for senate in 2014 would be the kind of catalyst that could revitalize it. He'd be a wild card, but I could definitely see it happening.

I'd rather see DeMint run with Rand as the VP. That way, Rand doesn't have to give up his seat to run.

Let's hope DeMint understands his role as the VICE president. I think Mike Lee might make a better choice anyway.

I think it would have to be revitalized BEFORE he could win that, though.

And if they won, Rand could go for Pres in 2020 or 2024...

However, I'm VERY intent on seeing a Rand Paul presidency in 2016...

In 2016, Rand will be like 52 years old...
In 2020, he'll be 56..

I'd much rather see him become prez in 2016.

I would love for him to knock out Lindsey Graham.

After Rand, DeMint would clearly be my second choice.

I could see a ton of candidates jumping into the race in 2016-Christie, Rubio, Ryan, Thune, Jindal etc.

Isn't it straightened out already? I thought his ex-wife married a guy who it appears was waiting in the wings, and Sanford is with his Latina soul-mate.

I really don't know. And I don't think I need to know. But if he re-enters public life, he'll have to regain the good name he lost. It will take more than being able to say that he's managed to stay faithful to the same woman for one whole year to accomplish that.

Also, the way Sanford carried himself throughout that story just made him seem like an oddball to me, and I assume to a lot of people. People will be paying attention to him with added scrutiny if he runs and expecting him to prove to them that he's not the kind of guy who will show up to dinner at the White House wearing nothing but a trench coat.

Lindsay Graham out in 2014 and Demint in 2016. This gives us a chance to get two really great people in there. The state will likely be a stronghold for many many years.

When I met Sanford at the debate in Greenville, SC. That's what I told him.. His reaction was that of laughter and thanks lol

Lol! For some reason, that kind of seems appropriate. :D

No one cares about all of the other candidates "romantic" history. Clinton, Giuliani, the list of multiple marriages and affairs is long indeed.

I don't understand what the obsession over Rand running in 2016 is. Every Republican and their dog is going to be running in 2016, so why should Rand be a party to that? Rand in 2020. Eye doctor+2020, get it? ;) Seriously though, chances of Rand winning a Primary in 2016 is slim. Better he run for re-election and then see how everything shakes out. He may also be interested in becoming Governor, which is much more likely to be achieved.

True.. Plus, we should wait and see what 2012 gives us... Who knows, Ron might overwhelmingly win re-election in 2016. :D

I don't have a problem with Rand running in 2020, other than I don't think we will have a free system of changing laws left by that time.

I don't think anything will be salvageable by 2016, either. Pretty much everything will be lost by then, especially with Congress and Obama continuing forth with more and more spending. Rand has said several times he hopes to be a leader when everything collapses, I hope that's what he is. We have to be thinking in the near term, no later than 2014, to try changing the current system before it collapses.

I think Rand would be a great VP.....NOW 2012

tons of press now and great speeches that are easy to understand for the uninformed. then again a prez in 2016

Actually, there's only been one President that was divorced, and he didn't want actually the divorce. So, even though the liberals in both parties keep telling us that it doesn't matter, it clearly does matter.
