There seems to be a kind of threshold in people. On one side people see themselves as a static "thing" victimized by the world. On the other side of the threshold they take responsibility for their own growth, their own healing, their own world.

On one side the world controls their attitude, on the other side their attitude controls the world.

It is really hard to see across the threshold. In fact it is hard to even realize there IS a threshold with another kind of life on the other side unless you have been on both sides.

When you reach out to someone across that threshold, from the world of love and possibilities, into their world of fear and helplessness, it seems that most of the time they can't even see your hand.

I am trying to understand this.
