How The 2004 Presidential Election May Have Been Hacked

Ohio's 2004 presidential election is one many won't forget. Democrat John Kerry was the leader and exit polls pegged him as the winner. Defying explanation, a last-minute shift in votes favored Republican George W. Bush and propelled him to victory.

New filings in the King Lincoln Bronzeville v. Blackwell case sheds some light (http://www.truth-out.org/new-court-filing-reveals-how-2004-ohio-presidential-election-was-hacked/1311603015) on how the 2004 election may have been hacked. The story starts with SmartTech, a Tennessee based hosting company with strong Republican ties.

SmarTech was hired by Ohio to provide a failsafe voting server for the rare occasion a network problem occurred. This isn't unusual. All properly managed networked systems have a backup in case of failure.

But in Ohio, there was no significant failure and voting data was unexpectedly switched over to SmarTech late in the voting process. This sudden shift coincides with an increase in votes favorable to Bush. Hmm, is there a mackerel in the room because something smells fishy.

IT security expert Stephen Spoonamore has studied newly released network maps and believes the SmarTech server was not a backup, but a man in the middle server that had the ability to input and alter voting data on the fly. Spoonamore is convinced the election was stolen,

"The computer system and SmarTech had the correct placement, connectivity, and computer experts necessary to change the election in any manner desired by the controllers of the SmarTech computers."

To make things even more intriguing, SmarTech was owned by Michael Connell who mysteriously died in a 2008 single-engine plane crash shortly after being served a subpoena in this case. His full testimony will never be heard. [The Truth (http://www.truth-out.org/new-court-filing-reveals-how-2004-ohio-presidential-election-was-hacked/1311603015)]

The 2004 election was a Sham. John Kerry went in with the intention of losing. It was a 1 man race.

Assuming this is true... and all evidence proves fishy business.... what could be done? At this point what is the desired response?

I just assume completely outlaw all electronic voting machines would eliminate this sort of crap.

Educating people about the corrupt political system and the dangers of electronic voting machines. If enough people are educated and it becomes a more accepted view, then maybe some more evidence will come forth and there can be convictions.

It would help to have actual physical proof of the votes on paper, yes.

People put way too much trust in a machine. I dont understand why we dont have mandatory paper ballots anyways. Why does it take a grand fraud to expose the possibility of corruption? Doesn't anyone have the foresight to say ..maybe we should have a paper trail?

There's a great documentary called "Hacking Democracy" that follows the woman who started "Blackbox voting.org". I thought it was well worth the time to watch.

Election hacking is the one topic on these forums that you won't see many people getting upset about. Probably because we are so reliant and dependent upon honest, free, and fair elections.

But poll manipulation, that's agreed to exist.

If you agree that the 2004 election was hacked, then any election can be hacked. I agree that any election can be hacked, I disagree that the solution is to stop voting.
