The threat of domestic terrorist attacks in the United States similar to last week's fatal bombing and assault in Norway is significant and growing, analysts said Monday. The greatest threat of large-scale attacks come from individuals and small groups of extremists who subscribe to radical Islamic or far right-wing ideologies, said Gary LaFree, director of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, or START.

While extremist animal rights and environmental groups also pose threats, those groups either have not tended to seek to kill or have only targeted individuals, according to researchers.

But extremist right-wingers -- from Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh to a neo-Nazi accused of trying to bomb a Martin Luther King Day parade this year -- have shown a willingness to target the public, LaFree said.

Such groups are among the fastest-growing extremist organizations in the country, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported in February. Right wing anti-government groups grew by 60% in 2010 over the previous year, the center reported, attributing much of the growth to militia groups.

It seems the propaganda machine is out in full force.

Maybe the teaocons will finally come to realize that the unconstitutional crap they let pass under GW Bush as it related to "terrorism" will eventually be used against them.

absolutely. i recall the SPLC saying something similar to this (extremist groups increased 60% blah blah) every freaking year since i've actually been paying attention.

Like I have said repeatedly and try to tell people as often as possible, they are going to throw 'right wing extremists' (ie. the people who post at the Ron Paul forums) into concentration camps. They're setting it up right now with their corporate propaganda. These are not good developments, and I am indeed alarmed since undoubtedly the public would accept such measures. They've been dehumanized from all the years of wars, deaths, destructions, terror, etc. that they'll accept anything.

well, if that happens. it will be interesting indeed.

Definitely. The tea party might make things harder for the government during a potential round up. They would have to round up regular church going folk, and people of esteem in the community with lots of cash. That'll be difficult to pull off without a revolution occurring.

So are all the enforcement agencies and "Fusion Centers".
It is not a face palm that they deserve.

So, what proof can they offer that the Neo-Nazis are a militia group? And until they do, what proof can they offer that militia groups are a threat?

And what has any of this to do with us? Is Ron Paul a mamber of a militia group? No?

Reminds me of the comedy style of a couple of members of Monty Python's Flying Circus--the late Graham Chapman and the seldom on time John Cleese. They called it OJARIL, which stood for Old Jokes And Ridiculously Irrelevant Links.

I also don't get how neo-nazis are automatically 'right-wing', as if their philosophies don't align just as well with the modern left as it does the modern right.

It's because of the liberal media uses it as a way to badmouth their enemies and elevate their own beliefs

Defining in those terms fails.

Exactly. Neo-Nazi, Nazi=National SOCIALIST. Hitler was a Right-Hegelian, he believed in traditionalism & nationalism which are traits shared by the modern "right-wing", he also believed in economic socialism which is a trait shared with the modern "left-wing". In short who cares really? He was a totalitarian collectivist & no matter if he identified with the left or right wing he was still a murderous asshole.

Left vs right is all BS anyways.

Not surprising. Remember this?

The MIAC report does not concentrate on Muslim terrorists, but rather on the so-called “militia movement” and conflates it with supporters of Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, Bob Barr, the so-called patriot movement and other political activist organizations opposed to the North American Union and the New World Order. The MIAC document is a classic guilt by association effort designed to demonize legitimate political activity that stands in opposition to the New World Order and its newly enshrined front man, Barack Obama.
