Some liberals posit that it would make us less likely to go to war if the rich and powerful had to risk their children, but there's two obvious problems

1. The rich and powerful have always been able to exempt from draft
2. It's wrong to send people to die unwillingly just because the country doesn't have the political will to put an end to these wars otherwise

A draft in this environment will no doubt result in a civil war and collapse of the US.

Which is why I hope for the Draft -- if a draft was necessary then that would mean the people would have rejected the wars finally and refusing to serve in them. The need for a draft would mean that the minds of the people are in the RIGHT place.

I'll add that people shouldn't be held accountable for the sins of their fathers.

And thats why im all for the draft.

Edit - Not really. I could never justify the use of force to force people to use force against people who have forced no one..

But ya. Im all for a collapse of the US government. So sue me.

I try to catch at least the new rules section of the show. This weeks show had a great mention of ron paul.

"You have to swear to once in a while swear. I don't trust anyone who never swears. Just once I want to see Ron Paul at a diner in New Hampshire screaming, “<expletive>! That is a <expletive> pancake!”

With Maher Needing a straight man for a comic schtick and him picking Ron Paul is actually fitting.

Maher used to call himself a libertarian. Remember that? He has gone off the dead end.

EDIT: Post 1500! YAY!
