I can't get it to embed here, because it isn't on YouTube. - I LOL'd.

Here's the story: http://dailycaller.com/2011/07/23/democratic-mayor-to-reasons-nick-gillespie-wanna-take-it-outside/

and here's the video: http://www.mrctv.org/video/103932

Those that missed this program are likely thinking this exchange was caused by Gillespie’s joke.

Not so. The popular Libertarian was wiping the floor with Fetterman, guest Donna Brazile, as well as host Bill Maher concerning raising the debt ceiling.

At every turn during this panel segment, Gillespie showed himself to be the only person in the room that was knowledgable on the subject, while his three opponents responded with vapid Democrat talking points lacking any substance or proximity to the truth.

This appeared to be making Fetterman a bit hot under the collar, and Gillespie joshing about him being the mayor of the poorest town in Pennsylvania was obviously the last straw.

Are you from the liberal side of the aisle? It's true. By and large, even the poorest people in America have food, two televisions, cell phones, etc etc....all because these things are much cheaper now than they were in the past.

In relative terms, he's very right. But the purchasing power of the working class is not where it should be thanks to the inflationary policies of the Fed Govt and Central banks.

There's a difference between purchasing power and the law of supply and demand/economies of scale.

Brazil's purchasing power is very good.

edit: I guess Im confused; perhaps between pp and exchange rates?

Don't know why - that's the link they give in their dropdown box. Here's the link to their page, sans commentary: http://www.mrctv.org/videos/democrat-mayor-threatens-reasons-nick-gillespie-real-time-want-take-it-outside

They took away my pension, but by golly, I can purchase all these neat electronics from China!

Has Purina moved it's operation to China yet? Hopping I can afford Alpo when I'm too old to work. Stocking up on Tabasco Sauce now for that day.

Gillepsie just knocked down their emotionally laden talking points like bowling pins. It was brilliant.

Considering what backs up our dollar and the fact that our national debt is so high I'd say the statement is absolutely true. Hell, we shouldn't be able to purchase anything with the USD at this point.

This reminds me of libertarianism before Ron Paul came along. There was always a token libertarian crushing these faux memes.

Here's another awesome moment on the show. Nick asks Bill Maher to sacrifice his two cars since he thinks "Carmaggeddon" was so great in changing people's behavior to drive less.

Ugh.... That's really disappointing to hear. Oh well, I guess it's to be expected, every minarchist has at least 1 logical inconsistency with regards to the philosophy of liberty.

I'd love to see a Jeffrey Tucker, Stefan Molyneux, Lew Rockwell or Tom Woods on that show. They'd have these chumps backed into a corner and talking over themselves so easily, with firm principled positions.

Well I think people who got a bad taste from Bush after his handling of 9/11 and Iraq war started calling themselves Democrats because Republican seemed like a bad word. That's not much of a strong foundation that can't be overcome with a good dose of Ron Paul. I know what you mean though.

What's he going to do after Gary drops out after aims and endorses Dr. Paul?

He seems to imply that he doesn't bother voting for or supporting people for president, towards the end of this clip...

So true. They have this unhealthy obsession with wealth redistribution and perceived social justice.

I just purchased his book on account of how well he preformed (will leave in public place, probably airport) He flat out crushed.

He's lucky he wasn't talking to a libertarian like me who is trained in Muay Thai, BJJ & Systema. I'd have accepted his offer, went outside with his "I'm big, tattooed & have a shaved head so I'm SOOOOOOOOOO SCARY" & then promptly BEAT HIS ASS without even breaking a sweat. I'd make sure that Maher's cameras came out with us so the whole world could see this wannabe tough guy is nothing but a coward who uses his size to try & intimidate people. I know the type because I've whooped several of them in my lifetime here on the streets of Chicago.
