Another term? "Tax reform" here has nothing to do with reform. It is just a euphemism for "higher taxes".

They're never going to streamline the code, because a) an entire industry has erupted around the fucked up tax laws which would be wiped out if John Q could understand how to do his taxes, and b) a complicated tax code gives them the ability to target anybody in this country they want taken out.

So that leaves two options: either they raise rates or eliminate exemptions. It's no coincidence that these are the only two things that are getting floated as ideas.

'Raising taxes' is what I was looking for.

"Raising revenues through tax reform" appears to be their preferred way to discuss it.
