Pub crawl to promote Ron Paul’s ‘Keep Your Tips Act’
Let’s drink to freedom – from the federal government taxing your tips, that is.
Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas, will take part in a pub crawl Saturday night in Manchester. The pub crawl is intended to promote federal legislation, dubbed the “Keep Your Tips Act,” that would exempt gratuities from federal and payroll taxes.
The legislation is sponsored by Paul, although the pub crawl isn’t affiliated with his presidential campaign.
After spending the day knocking on doors in Nashua, Paul supporters plan to meeting at Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant in Manchester at 7 p.m. to kick off the crawl. Around 8:30, it will move to the Shaskeen, followed by Penuche’s Grill and Strange Brew Tavern, and wrap up at McGarvey’s at 11 p.m.

+ 1000 for liquor, food, and liberty.
Excellent idea!
Now it's REALLY time to meet my fellow Ron Paul buddies!;)
HISTORY BOOK: "....but what is still considered paramount to restoring liberty was the Pub Crawl of 2011 that united the food and liquor service industry workers and solidified the whole of the liberty movement..."

I would be curious to see how it goes.
How much did it cost?
How many people participated?
How much did each person spend?
How many waitresses or bartenders were talked to?
And then, the ratio of money spent to bartenders / waitresses talked to.
After that data comes in, the efficiency of the program can be analyzed.

How much do you think this press was worth?

Cost us all a couple drinks, and $35 for 400 simple, hardstock fliers...
We brought our local GOP chair out on the first crawl, planned it for after the monthly social so a bunch of traditional Republicans watched us in action. Impressed the hell out of em...
We've since got positive coverage in the Spanish language press for one we help in Brooklyn.
At most places the entire staff gets a touch, and in some places the clientele do, too.
Gotta gauge the crowd, and needless to say be on our best behavior, sometimes we wear suits (it's NYC...) always wear a collar though. The press would love to show us as "party animals" we take active steps to counter that...
That press I linked to re-ignited national outreach efforts and the campaign has even put tip-cards on the official store site.
How much you think all that is worth?

I just bought a bunch of crap at the campaign store yesterday and now today they come out with the tax free tips business card so I have to pay an extra $7.50 in S&H just to get $4 worth of business cards..

I like the press. I still do want to hear about numbers though. I'm not anti-bar in the slightest.
How many RP people where there at the various bars, how much did each RP supporter spend, what was the total amount spent in the bars?
How many cards were handed out to how many servers, etc etc etc. How many new supporters were ID'd, and what kind of data did we get out of them?
The cards themselves would be cheap, irrelevant, cost-wise. I'm just wondering how many people spent how much money in these bars? and what were the benefits?
Presumably, the campaign loves the NY Post story. Hard to put a price on that exactly, and hard to factor that in when determining the overall value of this project.

I donated twice to the money bomb during the day and bought the supplies after midnight.
I'll be pretty busy this Saturday, we'll see what happens.

I know that you aren't renting. But you're bringing signs, balloons? I would think that you could have an email list available for people to sign up on. If you have signs, balloons, there's a reason you have them. a sheet of paper and a clipboard can get you data.

I agree being prepared to get data is a good idea. As for how much did they spend at bars, these things are in part social. What percent of what they were doing was fun? Because the percentage spent on drinks they enjoyed that would have been spent on other social activity should not, rationally, be counted as a cost of the effort.

Rationally, you should have this data. So you can compare costs between 2 types of events. If you want to give a "social event" extra credit, because it's a social event, that's great, I'm not against that. But to completely ignore your major costs, which appear to be drinks, you might be less able to determine which of the social events are the most economically efficient. Cost / benefit analysis does not necessarily have to be thrown out the door on social events.

Anyone else get the e-mail from the official campaign with the new items for sale on the site? They have some new business cards to pass out on this topic. They're pretty nice, and cheap. I'll be ordering them the next time I place an order.
