Republican Ron Paul’s Iowa campaign chairman says their get-out-the-vote effort for the Iowa straw poll is “among the most sophisticated I have ever witnessed.”
Paul, a U.S. representative from Texas who is making his third run at the White House, is making a concentrated push to win the Aug. 13 straw poll, a first test of campaign strength and candidate popularity.
The campaign raised $600,000 Tuesday in a “money bomb” fundraising effort it called “Ready, Ames, Fire,” said Paul’s Iowa campaign chairman, Drew Ivers.
Ivers in a statement today said “the Hawkeye State and Ames were the key selling points for attracting such a large amount of donations.”
The fundraising is aimed at “keeping Dr. Paul competitive all over Iowa and at the Ames straw poll,” Ivers said. “Make no mistake, yesterday’s money bomb was Ames-themed and Iowa-centric.”
