When you're trying to get to 1st, the bigger numbers will be on the bottom. 5000 means his site is the 5000th most traveled site by alexa toolbar users.

So ironic that you would want to measure Ron Paul support by using Alexa. Alexa is pretty much spyware that tracks your internet usage...kinda goes against the typical mindset of someone who supports Ron Paul. Google Trends is a much better tool to use.

OK, I thought it had to do with hits or traffic or something. Thanks for the clarification.

yea the toolbar is, but the website seems to be fine. You have a better suggestion for a website that can show us ranks?

Contrast RP's success with Ghouliani's ranking...

I actually installed Alexa a few months ago because they can already track where you go WITHOUT Alexa installed. You realize that your IP is logged anytime you go to a website, right? If you go to my blog I can see how long you visited for and where you clicked and what website you went to after mine. Everything you are afraid of is available without having Alexa installed.

I figured well I might as well give this forum's website and RPs website some added visits that would be added into his ranking on that website.

From what my little graph at the bottom of my browser says, this forum is at the highest it's been recently too.

A linear chart shows the numbers like 5000, 6000, 7000

A logrithmic chart shows the numbers like 100, 1000, 10,000

The point is that the higher the number, the less difference there is between them. For example, the difference between 4 and 5 is quite a bit compared to the difference between 530,555 and 530,556. By using that type of chart (logarithmic), you can see differences in the small numbers about as well as you can see the same sort of differences in the big numbers. Does that make any sense to you?

Sorry, I don't want to get this off track, but there's is a very big difference from the owner of a site knowing what you do on his site than a third party knowing everywhere you go.

Take this forum for example. It would be simple to track every thread you view, but once you leave the site the owner has no idea where you go or what you read. All the data about you is logged, but it is fragmented between every site you visit.

By installing something like Alexa you allow a third party to know every site you visit, how long you stay, etc.

PS, you can always avoid being tracked by disabling cookies and using proxies. Oh, what's this? I'm in Germany right now? Or, no wait, that's just my proxy. :D
