Did the "Conviction" ad run tonight?

Or is it some computer confusion?

If it's real, those are some great numbers.

Welcome to freedom folks!

I wasn't here last time, so I was wondering about the numbers myself. How do the active viewing numbers right now compare to the numbers from the same time frame during the previous campaign? Or how do the numbers here now compare to the numbers during the height of the previous campaign?

The most ever on RPF at one time, was on the night of the NH primary in 2008 and that was 4009.

At this time of night, in this subforum, the usual number would be about 70 or 80 people.

450 plus people viewing is a lot for 0200 EDT.

Of that specifically, I am unsure, but here are the Alexa stats (as far back as able, which is not far enough for what you're seeking) fwiw:

http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?&w=400&h=220&o=f&c=1&y=r&b=ffffff&n=666666&r=2y&u=ronpaulforums.com&

I do know, however, that while RPFs is seeing a continuous upward surge of traffic, we have not yet reached the highest # online as we did in 2008 (over 4k online at a time). With how rapidly traffic is increasing, however, it may not take too much longer.

It's probably quite likely a thread in the particular subforum was linked to on a major publication, perhaps foreign. An admin could clear it up by checking where the referrals are coming from if he really wanted.

There are quite a few threads with unusual view counts, that from yesterday certainly being one. There is a particular thread on RPFs about home-made weapons with nearly 325k views. Certainly, it was made popular by sources outside the forum.

This phenomena is not exclusive to RPFs, ofc. Other projects -- Bitcoins, for example - see massively higher view counts and purchase amounts when major media sources run stories on them.

If you sort the threads in Grassroots Central by number of views by clicking "Views" at the top of the column, it is the 3rd most viewed thread in Grassroots Central. I don't think that goes all the way back to the beginning of the Ron Paul Forums though; it only sorts going back to the last 138 pages, but still that is impressive and is probably the reason for the high number of viewers in Grassroots Central.

True. But look under some of them in green. Those are re-tweets, which don't show up. So just by those 6 people, 23 other people on Twitter posted it. So thats 29 people in total who posted this link, and so many have 1,000 followers. It adds up quick- thats why Tweeting is so important.

That's got to be it. Not too familiar with Reddit but I just check Alexa and it gets a HUGE amount of traffic (ranked 51st in the US), and that is one of the "hot" threads in the politics section right now.

Reddit's pretty hot in the "tech community." I've never much been into social networking, but it is pretty widely popular. Outside of just the "normal" viewers, there are actually plenty of tech sites (which also happen to tend to be libertarian) which read and re-post based off Reddit trending topics, http://www.techdirt.com/ being my favorite. Great site run by an outstanding libertarian fellow named Mike Masnick.

It kind of does.
35 new users and if we conservatively assume that each new user weighs at least 125 pounds, then 35 x 125 = 4375 which is more than two tons.

In addition to the Reddit mention, I found a direct link on a Prison Planet thread. There were tweets about the thread.

They were guests, and that hour of the night (eastern) is not so late on the west coast or Hawaii or in foreign countries.

Hopefully people are taking better note of where the threads are. That thread was viewable by guests and was presumably linked directly from wherever these folks were coming from. It is a bit of luck that we didn't have a smattering of trolls in there.

I don't believe that they all have to join. Maybe they don't want to join in the discussion, and just wanted to see these military donation numbers all in one place. This is why Grassroots/GenPol should be kept as guest-friendly as possible, imo.

It's around the third highest level of activity and trending up. I'm surprised at how much more the dailypaul gets.

In the last election I only went to the Daily Paul. I sometimes saw a single thread here, but I didn't know how to navigate v bulletin (laugh all you want) so if I didn't get here off a thread title in a google search, I didn't get here. I didn't join until the third time I tried to go to a thread title from google and it went into Hot topics just as I tried to get it, and it said I needed to join to see it. That was...whenever my join date is. I was checking up on Rand's senate run at the time.

This place is better for projects and discussions, DP is easier to just read what is on the front page. Now that Josh has a front page, things might change here, though.

that may in part be because there are many twitter variations on @RonPaul and donations is also money and $ and retweeting I don't think shows up separately.
