Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., called on President Obama to apologize for scaring seniors into thinking that the government would have to stop sending Social Security checks if a deal isn't reached to raise the debt limit by August 2.

“I frankly think the President should apologize," Paul said at a press conference in which Republican freshman Senators released a letter they sent to Obama demanding he show more leadership on the debt issue instead of resorting to scare tactics.

Paul called Obama's approach “emotionalism” and "calculated political football." To suggest that the government wouldn't be able to send Social Security checks would be "objectively false," he said.

Rand = spine and balls!
Rand = spine and balls and correct.

Just wanted to further the analogy. The debt ceiling issue doesn't affect anything already funded for the fiscal year. You'd think the POTUS would know that.

Donating $225 to Rand was worth every penny for me. This is monumentally entertaining. Not to mention politically invaluable.

We are getting a good return, yes? Every dollar spent on liberty multiples and returns 10 fold to the cause.

Good on you, anaconda! In reflection, I wish I had been much more of an active supporter of Rand. I was in for Gunny, I was in for Adam, but I did not believe at the time that the Feds would let Rand win. I was right, they did not let Rand win, but Rand won anyway and it was due to his supporters! It was a most awesome win! :D

Rand should bring up the point that Social Security was supposed to be a fund that was separate from the general fund and that Washington has been robbing that fund for years. Social Security is dry, but it shouldn't be. Hit home the point that deficit spending is what led to the depletion of the Social Security fund and that it's Washington's obligation to pay that back.

Permitting endless deficit spending is the disease that has already drained the Social Security fund, and we need to put an end to this disease.

Over a bumped thread? No.

But if they increase the debt ceiling, put troops on the ground in Libya, fail to elect Ron Paul to POTUS and take away a few more liberties....I just might.
