Britain's biggest bookmaker William Hill has drastically slashed Ron Paul's odds of becoming president from 66/1 to just 12/1, putting him on course to go head to head with Rudolph Giuliani for the Republican nomination, which will be decided in the next six months.

After initially writing off the Texas Congressman as a fringe candidate, the establishment media are finally having to admit that Paul's meteoric rise over the last 10 months have turned him into a frontrunner with a real chance of claiming victory should his growth curve continue.

Ron Paul is now ahead of John Edwards and John McCain in the betting and is closing in fast on Barack Obama, Al Gore, Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney, according to William Hill's odds .

This is quite bizzarre as very few people in the UK know who RP is

But fekkn A! How cool!!!!!

Mattsa, what are we at Ladbrokes?
what i really want to know is how big is this market - or is it similar to the markets regarding prince William?

I wouldn't bet too much on that. The Brits lost all their freedom more than a decade ago. They no longer even have the right to defend themselves (neither do the Australians). A lot of Brits are hoping that a victory for liberty here might one day translate into a revival of liberty in their country. I hope they are right.

Ron Paul is definitely getting bigger. I wonder if they saw the Jay Leno show last night and then changed the odds?

Oh so right about that.
Why is John Lydon such a huge Libertarian and Ron Paul supporter? Because he ESCAPED from the cradle of socialism/fascism to live here and become an American citizen - a fact he made sure the audience knew yesterday during the horsing around period after their song and before they shot the three promos for the night.

He got the chance to live in the US and doesn't want it to slip into what England has become. I think the fact that an ex-Brit is just about the biggest champion of what traditionally constitutes America is a pretty persuasive argument.

You're so right

In Britain we are slipping into a totalitarian dystopia and most people just don't realize it. Now we are being inexorably integrated into Europe, without a referendum, without any proper political debate. There is no credible opposition to our loss of sovereignty

My girlfriend is American and if all goes according to plan, we'll get married and I'll move to the USA. I can't bear living here anymore. It is awful.

I feel your pain, Mattsa.
Any chance you can get married this weekend, apply for citizenship on Monday, pay the extra fee to fast-track your application so you can register to vote in time for the primaries? Just an idea.

RP is 18/1 on Ladbrokes and in 6th place in the betting order.

I'm amazed frankly! Apart from a few blogs and www.housepricecrash.co.uk, very few people know who Ron is over here

I hope that'll change

We do have a good blogspot

Wow! I tell ya! I would love to vote for RP and to participate in his campaign

I've been on this globe for 43 years and I've never seen anything like what I've witnessed in the last 6 months.

I think this really is a revolution!

And the consequences will be very far reaching even if RP isn't the next prez

The truth is out and the people are pissed.....and rightfully so!

In the UK, we live in blissful ignorance for th etime being.......until the bills for our debt fuelled econony are due......not long now!

Next year, I will sell my home and get myself married to my American lady and head for Oregon. My mind is made up! It's gotta be done!

Any ideas for a marriage proposal??? :D

So get your limey butt over here and give us a hand. Once we've stopped our ship from sinking you can count on us to return the favor. I've always wanted to smuggle guns to England! <grin> (Disclaimer: to all lala leftists: that was a JOKE!!! You can stop dialing whatever federal agency you were dialing.)

Just an idea.No need to go to all that trouble. Learn a few words of Spanish, and come here to Maryland and get a driver's license. While you're there, register to vote. As long as you register as a Democrat, nobody will ask you any questions. Then, change your registration!

We have to get busy then.

I don't think we have that kind of time. Consider popping the question this Saturday night at the latest.
Since time is of the essence here, a unequivocable and instantaneous 'yes' to your proposal is essential. This should do the trick:
