07-13-2011, 11:17 PM
whens it going to air?
Its starting to air friday and is part of a six figure ad buy

The spot, set to begin airing Friday, follows on Paul’s aggressive stand on the debt issue, as the Texas Republican is also part of a grassroots effort encouraging Americans to lobby Congress against raising the debt ceiling.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/58949.html#ixzz1S3Ou95Dz

The 60-second spot, made with all the flare of a Hollywood movie preview, is part of a six-figure ad buy in the early-voting states, just the latest step forward in the Texas congressman’s increasingly serious campaign.

Next he needs to have one with video of him and Carol going to church,
In Congress, with family, with some babies, some flags (only American ones)
and of course, the tractor (especially for Iowa). And of course the appropriate

Absolutely, magnificently, epically, graphically, educationally, visually stunning! I can't wait till other campaigns fail hard trying to do this kind of heavyweight cutting edge, epic movie trailer style. And they will because this will have them trembling in their jackboots. And they will fail hard because they are counterfeits and clueless as to exactly what makes this epic. IT IS EPIC because this trailer is for a movie where the real hero actually exists in real life along with the pantheon of villains that MUST be defeated for the earth to be saved.

Folks..we are going to win this. For the World.

The green "approved for all audiences" opening in the middle of Summer Hollywood Blockbuster season is GENIUS. Everyone wants to know what new movie is coming out, what new preview it is.. people will stop whatever they're doing to see what's new - people will stop DVR's and rewind when they see that opening. Absolutely brilliant!!

I watched this ad the first time and it actually brought a tear to my eye. To see the campaign produce this kind of quality TV ad just shows the commitment to winning this time around. I have that feeling in my stomach that I had back in 2007 when I first discovered Ron Paul.

This commitment from Ron Paul stirs the commitment from me to work harder and smarter for the campaign. I will back that up with my donations in the future money bombs too.

No joke....this ad is amazing. I do agree that it needs to be balanced with family-oriented, more "warm and fuzzy" type ads, but what a message this one sends.

Also, the timing is amazing. Putting these on right before the "Ready, Ames, Fire" moneybomb is going to give people a lot of energy. I, for one, will be donating more than previously planned. :)

What happens is after around 300 views, youtube then counts the video as popular. They then count the views to make sure that they aren't fake. (Alot of people actually buy views from people because they do YT as a business, and the more views, the more money.) The views update every few hours or so.

YouTube always does that - it shows 300-something views, usually in the first 24 hours of a video, before it starts updating it consistently. My guess is, that it's to save bandwidth on their end, since a lot of videos are hyped and are increasing faster than the counter could even keep up with in the first 24 hours.

Now we need two more ads:

1. A touchy-feely with RP quoting from his "statement of faith" directly into the camera and mentioning that he's the only candidate with military service.

2. A comparison ad questioning the conservative bona fides of the other candidates:

a. The National Review wrote that "There is no question that Romneycare and Obamacare are one and the same" (http://www.nationalreview.com/critical-condition/267227/mitts-millstone-still-weighs-him-down-sally-c-pipes, May 13 2011)

b. Bachmann trying to cover up that her only real job was as an IRS tax collector who sued Native Americans (google "bachmann manypenny")

c. Tim Pawlenty - he was for job-killing cap and trade before he was against it.

d. Ron Paul - you always know where he stands: Has never voted to raise taxes; has never voted for an unbalanced budget; has never voted to increase Executive Branch Power (menacing pic of BHO in background). Ron Paul - the principled conservative choice.

1. A touchy-feely with RP quoting from his "statement of faith" directly into the camera and mentioning that he's the only candidate with military service.

that will never happen. Ron will barely write it, much less quote it to a camera. He REALLY doesn't like using his faith to market himself as a candidate. Besides, the man does much better when he doesn't have a script. When he reads he isn't at his best.

2. A comparison ad questioning the conservative bona fides of the other candidates:

I think this ad takes the right tone, at least for now, don't specify the candidate, just point out that Ron is the ONLY one who is consistent. He has NEVER supported an unbalanced budget, has NEVER supported raising the debt ceiling... I do think an ad about 'substance' over 'style' might be a good one, highlighting his record. NONE of the others can touch it.

d. Ron Paul - you always know where he stands: Has never voted to raise taxes; has never voted for an unbalanced budget; has never voted to increase Executive Branch Power (menacing pic of BHO in background). Ron Paul - the principled conservative choice.

Definitely. Something like, "I don't always agree with Ron Paul, but I always know where he stands." People like to know what they're getting in politicians, and will vote for honest ones they can trust (but might not agree with) over ones they're not sure about.

Yeah really, I don't quite understand that.
They are making money off of the video. But, that is the free market.

It was the wrong time and not meant to be
It took a long time and I'm new born now
I can see the day that I bleed for,
If it's agreed that there's a need to play the game and to win again

I'm winning
I'm winning
I'm winning
I'm winning
I'm winning and I don't intend on losing again

Taking the gloves off!! Now maybe if we could eventually get one with Rand in it! I'd save that one for right before the primaries start.

This Ad as well as Ron Paul saying he won't run for congress tells me it's really on this time.

It took me 10 viewings before I realized how brilliant the first 10 seconds are. Obviously, the motion picture preview rating is the hook, but it is followed immediately by "Balanced Budget Productions - in association with Ron Paul". When this add plays multiple times, not only will viewers automatically think of Ron Paul when they think of debt ceiling and not caving in to the Democrats, they will think of him every time discussion takes place on a balanced budget amendment. It's sheer brilliance.

I agree with the strategy of dumping everything into Iowa. If he can't chip into the lead early, then we're not going to win in a long long money race.

Excellent ad. Not only does it promote Dr. Paul, it puts pressure on the GOP leaders not to cave. This ad is certainly getting a reaction. The comments are pouring in as I watch it (already repeated it a few times :o ).

I thought the 1st NH ad ("I don't always agree with Ron Paul...") was way better. It was so real, with regular people. This one is way too polished and professional-looking.

I agree. Actually, I think it may play a bit better in NH. But let there be NO doubt that The Gauntlet has been thown down this week ... Ron retiring from Congress, the AD ... we're all in!

It's great for the primaries; it fits the target audience.

Somehow, though, I'm going to have to keep my democrat friends from ever seeing it.

Seemed to have a lot of red-team/blue-team nonsense in it.

Yeah, it is a primary ad, for sure, and where we are wooing crossovers, not so great, but at least it attacks both parties....

I think it would be awesome if they kept up the movie trailer theme for a while...almost like a running series, you know? Even if they didn't air all of them in Iowa/NH, releasing them on the internet would really keep the hype going.

I think so as well, and this producer seems to take the branding seriously, so it just may be in the cards. There are many themes to play off of such as one for a family oriented film presenting Orwellian intrusions into family privacy as an example. Or an old movie style remake of "Its a Wonderful Life", with a defeat of the vulture capitalist and a return to community values and local rule. Or an Untouchables styled investigator after the crooked counterfeiters in high society..kind of a three stooges/marx bros runaround with crazy gestures thingamajiggy with a Detective Columbo after them. Or??.........this is the first. The next is a surely anticipated event.

Best Regards

I don't necessarily like videos with comments turned off but if Ron is really in it to win it he needs to turn off comments or have someone monitor and delete/block users who are trolls, spammers, or "haters".

http://youtu.be/UUNIeOB0whI

If you browse the first couple pages of comments you will see two users (who might be the same person) with rather hateful comments and pages. I emailed the campaign via the website to alert them of one user in particular and I've been reporting like crazy to YouTube. I don't know what good that will do though.

All of us need to just flag their comments as spam, and then they'll get hidden. I think it only takes like three people flagging them for it to work.

Yeah, just vote the moron's comments down, then flag as spam. Some people really don't have any sort of life. Youtube is very unresponsive to reports of abuse and spam. Not worth the time. I do wish the person that posted the video would go through and delete the comments though.
