Well, I hope it does get repealed, but I still have a basement full of incandescent light bulbs. Guess they don't go bad though.

<sigh> I was looking forward to spending $50 for one of those new 75 watt LED bulbs made by Sylvania which Lowes is supposed to begin selling this month ... Hopefully, those new LED bulbs won't be pulled from the shelves by Ron's myopic initiative ....

j/k LoL

From what I remember about this...GE shut down or is going to shut down the incandescent factories in the USA and the jobs to manufacture of the "new" CFL's will be in China.

My fiance has an Obama light bulb in his bedroom, it's terrible.

Actually, I was incorrect.

The bill that gets voted on tomorrow is actually HR2417 which usurps local authority to the Feds over lightbulbs: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.R.2417:

I hope washington gets this settled soon. I am running out of light bulbs and will be SOL without their magnificent guidance.

I use mostly CFL's in my house, but there are some places where I still prefer the old technology.

Incandescents will largely fade away even without a government ban. CFL's have been grabbing market share for years and will continue to do so.

Hence, the ban is not necessary.

I basically agree. BTW, where can I find CFLs usable with timers, dimmer switches and photocells? Apparently, Amazon sells them. I could never find any CFLs useable with dimmers locally. I'll bet the CFLs don't last long on a dimmer, though....

I just bought a couple of PureSpectrum CFLs which can allegedly be dimmed to ~ 15% for ~ $7 each. We'll see how long the bulbs last, but thanks for reminding me to act ... ;)

The commies must be having wet dreams - first we give up our superiority of space and become dependent on the ruskies, and now China will be able to black out the country without blowing up a single power station or deploying a EMP bomb.

Their moles Sir Golfsalot and the other traitors in Congress are sure earning their pay.
