If there is a better way to post tables from Excel, please let me know.

I've used peoples' RPF usernames in sales descriptions (because I think it's important for people to establish reputations here). If I couldn't figure yours out, then I used your initials from the PayPal transaction. If you requested anonymity for a particular transaction, I gave you a customer number.

Purchase Ron Paul Phone Lists

I am currently selling phone numbers of those who identified themselves as Ron Paul supporters in robopolls for $2 each. These phone numbers are excellent for calling to find Ron Paul supporters interested in attending the Ames straw poll on August 13.

If you want to purchase these phone numbers, you can make a payment directly to my PayPal account, r gear y iii at gmail dot com. If you describe it as a Personal Transfer from your PayPal balance or bank account, PayPal charges no fee (DO NOT describe it as payment for a good or service). Do not describe it as a purchase or else I could be charged an international transaction fee. If you cannot pay me without incurring a fee to you or myself, then consider using Amazon Payments to make the payment (my account email address is the same as my PayPal email address): https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdui/index.htm . In your PayPal or Amazon Payment note, please indicate your RPF username; otherwise I will use your initials in the public robopoll project accounting unless you request to be anonymous.

Each list of phone numbers you purchase is guaranteed to be unique from any other list I sell (i.e., the same phone number will not be sold more than once). Once I have conducted the robopolls necessary to fill your order, I will send the list of phone numbers as an attached Excel file to the email address of your choice (e.g., your own, Steve's, etc). You are welcome to share your lists with others.

When does paypal charge a fee? Seems to be a percentage of some sort? Did you look into the Amazon payments? There's no fees and you can link it to your bank account or use as Amazon gift credit.

Edit: Oh and Amazon payments allows payments through credit cards with no fees either for this year.

PayPal does not charge a fee if you transfer from either your existing PayPal balance or from your bank. If you transfer via your credit card, PayPal will charge a fee. They should warn you that a fee will be charged and give you the option of having the recipient pay it or you pay it (I think it defaults to the recipient paying it).

I've been too busy to look into Amazon.

That is only when transferring to or from your own bank account, anytime you send money to someone else a transaction fee occurs regardless of the source. (unless they are running a targeted promo at the time.)

The % taken varies by the account type and reputation over time, among other factors.

Hmmm. Did you perhaps describe the transaction as a payment for goods or something? As I recall, there are fees for international sales. I believe PayPal knows I'm in Australia, even though I have my PayPal account linked to US bank accounts and credit cards.

This is incorrect. Instant transfers from your bank account are free. Transfers of money from existing PayPal balances are also free. Combining the two in one step is still free.

I have never had this to occur, I have ALWAYS been charged if someone sent me money, if from CC, instant bank transfer, echeck, anything. I have been with paypal for over 10 years now.

I've had a PayPal account since the late 1990s and have never been charged unless someone bought something from me on ebay or paid me from a credit card. Maybe we have slightly different types of accounts.

I just set one up. I had to call up Bank of America and temporarily change my address back to my mother's US address before my credit card could be verified (the form would not accept an Australian address).

I've been using Paypal for 11 years. There has always been a fee ( most accounts are 2.9% + a per transaction fee of 30 cents, I believe) to receive money, regardless of the source ( balance, bank, card), unless the sender elects to pay it. I have a U.S. business account.

Gift payment, guys. You have to send money as a gift to avoid fees. It's an option when selecting payment type.

angelatc

Paypal always charges a fee, and people don't like to use Amazon payments. (If you get people to send you "gifts" Paypal will shut you down for lying.)

I hate Paypal with a passion, but if you don't use it, people won't donate. It's ok to offer Amazon as a Paypal alternative, but if you stop taking Paypal, your donations will also drop off.

I just called PayPal and asked about each purchase that incurred a transaction fee. In every case, the customer described the purchase as a payment for goods or services.

I can refund payments upon request, allowing customers to resend their payments without fees. You will get refunded the full amount of your payment and my account will be deducted the net amount plus $0.30, which is non-refundable. I've gone ahead and refunded harikaried his $100 payment.

I described the nature of the transaction to the PayPal customer service rep (a donation for a volunteer political campaign project) and she said that "Personal Transfer" was appropriate.

Knock yourself out then. But I can absolutely assure you that the Paypal rep is wrong. Also, even though you just told them you're collecting for a project using a personal account. don't be surprised to find your account suspended and you locked out of the access to your funds once their computer flags you for suspicious behavior.

My wife just confirmed what you say. I've withdrawn the entire balance to my bank account (though I guess it isn't really safe until it reaches my bank account in 3-4 business days). I guess as long as I keep withdrawing each payment I receive immediately, there isn't a huge risk if PayPal decides to shut me down.

Yep. Leaving your money in there is a dangerous game. They will eventually discover that you're not up to anything nefarious, of course, but that process can take 3 months.

I can't add calling credit after Dynamic Interactive closes at 5pm. There's nothing wrong with Wednesday evening polling, but there are only so many days between now and the straw poll--I want to cram as much robopolling in before then as possible.

The return text messages and voicemails are mostly "Do not call". (The voicemail says to reply with a text message stating either your preferred presidential candidate or "do not call".)

harikaried

The return text messages and voicemails are mostly "Do not call"I wonder if the message could be better presented to get a higher response rate. Sure, some people just don't want to be bothered (perhaps at that particular time?). But any idea how many people stop in the middle?

Various ideas:
- state upfront how long the call will be
- let people pick a better time to respond or maybe something like "if you prefer to text your answers, call back to get instructions" (or if possible, text the number for instructions?)

Unless your initials are L. M. B., whose payment I believe I received before this post, I haven't received your payment.

I went ahead and made a $600 purchase at Interactive Dynamics anyway using my credit card and withdrew everything that was in my PayPal and Amazon accounts, which was a total of $585.12. I don't actually have a negative PayPal balance. The $-14.88 indicates that the project's share of my PayPal balance will be $50 - $14.88 once I do receive your payment.
