I like the idea of getting the TSA out of airports, but the idea that private security will abandon the practices of the TSA is wishful thinking. Is it possible? Yes, in fact it's likely. But it's also possible that they'll continue with the same routine. So I think a more concrete argument is needed when trying to convince people of privatizing airport security.

Personally I think it should be the airlines job to put some sort of *detection* into the planes themselves(metal/bomb/weapons/etc.). It would prevent individual searches, and search an individual plane if something is picked up as passengers are boarding the plane. Not full proof but something to think about in my opinion.

I agree with the plan. The airlines know that security is serious—yet they also understand that if they are too extreme, they will face the financial repercussions.
