Kucinich/ Amash bill narrowly defeated. I'd explain the bill, but it was only about some stupid shit like war or something. No big deal.

http://news.antiwar.com/2011/07/07/house-narrowly-reject-defunding-of-libya-war/

A broader bipartisan amendment from Reps. Amash (R – MI) and Kucinich (D – OH) narrowly failed, with a vote of, 199-229. That amendment would have barred the use of any funds for the war in any capacity. This vote was overwhelmingly opposed by Democrats, but saw a split among Republicans.

Still, the Cole (R – OK) Amendment, a less ambitious version, managed to pass, which prohibits any funding for equipment, training or advice related to the Libya War in the bill. The amendment was overwhelmingly supported by Republicans, but few Democrats. The vote was 225-201.

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/world/2011-07/08/c_13972193.htm

The measures voted in the House were amendments in a 649- billion-dollar defense budget that is to go into effect on Oct. 1. The chamber first voted 229-199 to reject an amendment that would prohibit the use of defense dollars to continue U.S. participation in the NATO-led mission in Libya.

The House then voted 225-201 to adopt another amendment in the budget forbidding the Pentagon from providing military equipment, training, advice or support to the Libyan rebels.

politics politics.

I watched Senior Democrat on the House appropriations committee, Norm Dicks (D-WA) debate some republican about cuts in Iraq and Afghanistan for 5 minutes. Dicks was against any cuts in the wars... then the republican came back and stated the cuts are to the annual DOD budget, not to the war budgets in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Then Dicks quickly tried to recover and stated... no shit, "Well, that's even worse!"

Absolutely incredible these prostitutes on Capital Hill. Checkout this gem of a pic at the bottom with DOD secretary Robert Gates... surprise surprise. Further research reveals: http://www.house.gov/dicks/search6th.shtml

Oh, well. The people want peace, so we had better take it out on John Phillips Souza.

Meanwhile, for those who think we're doing no real good here, may I point out how incredibly bizarre it is to hear tell of Democrats arguing for war funding, and Republicans against the stuff? This isn't unprecedented, mind you--just unheard of in the last three quarters of a century or nearly so.

Damned good job, people! Keep up the pressure!

At least battleships have enough room for their bands on deck. Where do you put the band on an F-16?

bingo!

i only pointed out what i know. a few months ago an article ran in air force times. it was about how the af was planning on making the members of these various bands actually have to PCS (permanent change of station-- ie move from one assignment to another which generally means moving from one base to another). the members of the bands FREAKED out. they were livid. hostile. insanely so. their defense: "we are members of a band! a creative force!! you just canNOT take a tuba player from one band and move him to another band and expect us to mesh well when you supply us with a new tuba player. bands don't work that way."

talk about an entitlement attitude. i nearly choked when i read the article. how many people do you know that earns from 50 to 100k playing a #@^ tuba. oh, yeah, add personal and family medical benefits and job security?

Its one thing to actually be fooled, its totally another when you know exactly what is going on and are powerless by yourself to do anything about it.

I lived in this pig's district most of my life. During the Bremerton Armed Forces Parade of 2004 or 2005, I went with a couple of friends to cheer the Iraq Veterans Against the War, who were, predictably placed second to last, right behind the used car dealers, real estate firms, and Lawyer firms. Norm Dicks, the enormous dick that he is, waddled his way through the route riding in an Army jeep (although he never served).

The next year, one of them was banned from the Armed Forces Day Parade, because the parade was, quote "not supposed to be about politics." end quote.

Who do you think it was banned from the armed forces day parade for being too political? The group whose entire list of members had served as veterans in foreign wars... ...or fat Dicks tubbing around in an Army Jeep covered in election signs like he had ever even worn a uniform?

Just remember kids, this is a free country.

That's right! Free Country! They printed up some money and bought it from us. And since fiat paper money is worthless, they essencially got it from us "FOR FREE"!

911 turned out to be a hell of a multiplier for this Nations military industrial complex. Still wish in my heart that Dr.Paul would have answered Carl Camerons with more questions about WTC7, etc..

Sorry acptulsa, Ron's answer to that question was stunning & empty & certainly did not help him win that election.

..All he had to do was put some resonable doubt into the facts of that day, but he dismissed any resonable discussion.

If he takes on the 911 issue, (which is the heart of our endless wars & corrupt foreign policy) i will help him get elected 100%.. right now I'm chuging away @ 10%. ;)

Oh? You've heard some candidate besides Ron Paul call for another and more proper investigation? He's the only one I've heard say anything of the sort. All the rest seem stuck on some variation of Dubya's 'Yer with us or yer with the terrists.'
