Say that Michele Bachman wins the republican primary, and chooses Ron Paul as her vice president choice.....

what would you all think?

NO.

So Dr. Paul would leave the congress and take a powerless position where he just warms the bench?
No, not a win.

Edit: and candidate would do so, for some reasons I won't mention.

No, and Ron Paul will not be considered a potential VP by any other candidate. He's probably on the bottom of the list there.

LOL!

Talk about upside down....

No. MB has some good points, but she would need Ron because her understanding is shallow. That isn't the person who should be president. And her votes for the Patriot Act and increased domestic police state..... huge deal to me. Also, her indiscriminate support of middle east wars is incompatable with her restatement of Ron's economic positions. She also voted for Ryan's plan which would require the deficit next year go UP before some fairy tale date in the future when it would go down.... but not balance for 20 years. I think she has come a long way with the federal reserve, and I'm glad she was active in pushing for Ron's audit. But it is yet to be seen what that will mean when it comes to cutting spending she wants.

MB seems a lot better than Romney, but she doesn't have some very key parts of the puzzle.

Not at all sure about that this go round, given what he'd bring to the process. But that would be because in the end of the day the President, not VP has the say. And that is the problem with the suggestion.

absolutely not. ron has to maintain his principled integrity. he can't sell out. besides he's far more useful in the congress where he can atleast cast votes. the vice pres is pres of the senate and that's about it... just breaking tie votes, no actual power.

Only outcome I'm happy with is a Dr. Paul vs. Obama general election.

No. That would be a big LOSE.

Ron wouldn't agree to that, anyways. If he did, that would be an even bigger LOSE. It's about liberty, not Ron Paul. Liberty first, Ron Paul second.

I've considered this possibility, but at this point I'd have a really hard time voting for that ticket even with Dr. Paul on it. I just don't think Bachmann should hold the highest office in the country. I don't think they could win, either. Bachmann is too polarizing and controversial to overcome Barack Obama.

We need to remind people who support her and are against raising the debt ceiling that she supports Paul Ryan's budget that requires the following debt limits:

1 Fiscal year 2012: $16,204,000,000,000.
2 Fiscal year 2013: $17,177,000,000,000.
3 Fiscal year 2014: $17,951,000,000,000.
4 Fiscal year 2015: $18,697,000,000,000.
5 Fiscal year 2016: $19,503,000,000,000.
6 Fiscal year 2017: $20,245,000,000,000.
7 Fiscal year 2018: $20,968,000,000,000.
8 Fiscal year 2019: $21,699,000,000,000.
9 Fiscal year 2020: $22,408,000,000,000.
10 Fiscal year 2021: $23,102,000,000,000.

Congress is arguing right now over the current $14.3 trillion debt ceiling yet Bachmann supports a budget that requires a $23.1 trillion debt ceiling in 10 years (61.6% increase).

Yes it is a win. Vice President has a much bigger stage than a congressmen.

That would be great. More or less, a win. The vice president is really in many ways the chief advisor to the president.

But more than that, it would put THE advocate for liberty in a position of great public notoriety, which would validate the importance of the liberty wing of the Republican Party and force our candidates to be accepted by "the establishment" if you will.

I agree. Obviously, as we saw in the last debate, Bachmann doesn't even know what a Constitutional amendment is, so obviously isn't smart enough to hold a position with that much power. HOWEVER, having a real conservative as a VP would validate the liberty movement and could help us grow in the future. At the same time though, if Bachmann signs some really stupid bills or doesn't cut much, it could hurt the liberty movement since Ron would be her VP through it.

Overall I don't know if I would vote for it or not. 99% sure it would never happen, but stranger things have happened....interesting question, good thread.
