So that's why he was running so fast? I saw it in a news clip.

You also appear to be in the first picture accompanying CNN's write up of Ron's logo, Shem. At least people were saying that was you. The blimps were a great touch!

Where did you get the mini Ron Paul blimps? A local city has a Labor Day parade and I would like to order a bunch to hand out to kids while I walk the parade.

I believe he got them from Ernie at Freedom's Phoenix. Others have too. I don't know how big a supply he has, though. http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Contact-Us.htm?EdNo=001

NICE! I still have mine afloat in my office as well. When the helium depletes, I might even get it re-filled. It's my constant reminder to work for liberty.

for about $25 bucks at Party City you can buy a kids party sized tank of helium, if it works out cheaper.

Ernie + Donna charged me 2 bucks plus shipping (got them over-nighted, but for standard shipping it will probably just come to 3 bucks)

BTW, great work shem.

nice job.

Who was louder? Mittens and his paid marchers or the Ron Paul Rebels?

muzzled dogg

mitt's people were silent

huntsman was right behind us and compared to us they barely said a word
once in a while they'd say john 2012 or get in the hunt or some corny thing

astro turf.. but mitt's people sure can fit quite a few yard signs on wooden poles.

Some of us thought about hitching a ride on Mitt's float.

Impressions:

(1) chanting got old quick. Melodies would be a great benefit. (project idea)

(2) The Ron Paul crowd was obviously a populist movement, no leader. This has pros and cons, but the common voter is looking for a leader, in addition to being a part of the popular crowd.

(3) I didn't see any slim-jims, were they being handed out to people who wanted more info on Paul?

1 agreed

2 We had a couple "leaders" From the campaign, but yeah, I see what you're sayin

3 Yeah there were booths for that after

It is possible the chanting turned some off, if they went to the parade not as a political event but as a celebration of American traditions. The chants were very much in the tradition of American independence, but not necessarily what all people were looking for on independence day -- particularly if they don't like Ron Paul (or us.) And maybe if they had small children they were teaching about the beauty of our founding principles but didn't really want to get into the subject of why we need to ask for our Constitution back, on that day. But then, some people we are going to rub wrong just by existing. But we do want to be sensitive to what reasonable, undecided bystanders would think.

I think it is terrific so many showed up, it was a great presence!

Great pics and video, Shemm! Love that you were right behind Mittens.

Saw Santorum in Urbandale, IA parade, little crowd response.

If you turn a hair dryer on a Mylar balloon with helium that doesn't float anymore the balloon will float again after the warm air from the hair dyer hits it.

I was thinking the same thing, in my county I helped campaign for a county wide candidate. He has the biggest presence in the parades, and we also had the greatest impact. What we did is we didn't do alot of chants, we just smiled, waved, handed out handouts, and shook people's hands. (By the way, we won.)
