Cain's campaign said donations came from all 50 states, and that there was "zero" debt, but didn't mention whether that overall figure included money the former Godfather's Pizza CEO has acknowledged giving his campaign. It also didn't reflect how much cash-on-hand is in his coffers.

The release also noted that Cain, who has lost staffers in New Hampshire and Iowa in the last few days, will be rolling out some new hires.

Isn't he a billionaire or something? It says some of the money is money he gave the campaign, but not how much. Also, he had that media driven spike after the first debate in South Carolina. I wonder how much is on hand.

It really baffles me how any other candidates get any money whatsoever (unless from people trying to buy their power). What individual would ever donate to one of these people who are all exactly the same? How do they have any motivation to give up their hard earned money for just another member of the status quo?

Don't forget that Cain had been using his on-air WSB Radio presence to form his group of neocon groupies. Can't remember the name of it, but he has a core of supporters gleaned from being a radio talk show host here in ATL.

I don't think any of those candidates actually raised that money. While a little bit of it may come from people who just like to think they are making a difference, most of the money comes from other places, such as corporations, other campaign accounts, or their own fortunes.

He must have got most of it after the first debate, he had considerable buzz in the teo-con community.

Cain raises $2.4 million, Iowa staff resigns
http://hotair.com/archives/2011/07/02/cain-raises-2-4-million-iowa-staff-resigns/

Cain brought in $2.46 million in campaign contributions, a number the campaign tells TPM it expects to see rise to closer to $2.48 when all the final reporting is done.

Cain’s campaign claims 27,000 online donors, and also says that most of the haul came from donations of $100 or less.

Cain, wealthy from his experience running Godfather’s as well as other successful business enterprises, has put in some of his own cash as “seed money” for the campaign, Carmichael said. But she said that the amount Cain has contributed pales in comparison to the $2 million or so former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman gave his own campaign, which reported just over $4 million in total fundraising today.

Herman Cain’s Iowa Director, Tina Goff, told TheIowaRepublican.com that she has submitted her resignation and is no longer working for the campaign. In addition to Goff’s resignation, TheIowaRepublican.com can confirm that Kevin Hall has also left the campaign. Hall served as Cain’s Straw Poll coordinator. …

With just 43 days to the Iowa Straw Poll, Cain’s campaign here in Iowa and nationally seems to be unraveling. Cain lost his New Hampshire director, Matt Murphy, who was his only staffer in that state, earlier this week. Jim Zeiler, a Cain regional director who had been to Iowa and was helping with the campaign’s Straw Poll plans, has also left the campaign.

Even with that strong result for Cain, however, Goff told The Iowa Republican than she didn’t believe Cain was serious about campaigning in the state, which is why she quit.
