A strong college facebook group that was very active during the 2008 campaign is now being told they are to "be archived" and they cannot update their name.
I'm not surprised. After facebook reformatted itself and moved the group's active forum to some tab, the membership's activity lagged.

This is what the page says to members:
"This group is scheduled to be archived
Over the next few months, Facebook will be archiving all groups created using the old groups format. When this group is archived, its wall posts, photos and discussion threads will move to the new groups format, but group members will need to be re-added."
Archived. Hmm...those 44,000 people still members are still good contacts for getting out word for campaign events--especially for the college campuses.
Meanwhile anytime you look up potential RP facebook groups, the ones that show up are the tiny ones--about 200 people or so. This is not good for campaign coordination.
