(AP) WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Justice Department says that marijuana dispensaries and licensed growers in states with medical marijuana laws could face prosecution for violating federal drug and money-laundering laws.

In a policy memo to federal prosecutors obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, Deputy Attorney General James Cole said a 2009 memo by then-Deputy Attorney General David Ogden did not give states cover from prosecution.

Starting in February, 10 U.S. attorney's offices have asserted they have the authority to prosecute medical marijuana dispensaries and licensed growers in states with medical marijuana laws. Prosecutors, the states complained, are not even willing to declare that state employees who implement such laws are immune from prosecution.

State officials say that following a two-year period in which federal prosecutors gave breathing room to state medical marijuana laws, the Justice Department is now toughening up its position as more states move toward opening facilities to dispense marijuana.

Sixteen states and the District of Columbia have legalized the medical use of marijuana, with programs in various phases of development. The states are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

But it gives compelling reason and a timeline why Ron's bill was necessary when they came out with it.

If you live in one of these states, run for sheriff, win, and take a hard line on this! That would tickle me pink.

You want to know something enlightening?
The Doctor who "signed" my MM certificate was not the Doctor I was evaluated by.
What does that mean?
Rackets are rackets. Legal or illegal. BASTIAT!!!!

I guess I should say: What does this mean for the states?
Does it mean: "No more differences in interstate affairs!!!"
Or does it mean something aside from that. Whats the purpose?

This is a direct response to Chris Christie deferring to the Feds about allowing medical dispensaries in his state:

Uh, that used to happen to me ALL THE TIME at regular doctor's offices... and dentist offices

I, however have had my recommendation for over 6 years and have always been evaluated by the MD who signed the recommendation.

Sounds like you might want to change your doctor.

This. The Sheriff's are the only people who can tell the feds to F-off when they are operating outside of the Constitution's enumerated powers (Supremacy Clause). Further, the Foregoing Powers Clause only authorizes federal agencies which are supposed to enforce the enumerated powers anyway. The Sheriff's are the only way to return the government to the Constitution.

By the way, there was a thread over on the Rogan board a little while back about drugs and music..

Of course the old Bill Hicks quote came up:

You see, I think drugs have done some good things for us. I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor. Go home tonight. Take all your albums, all your tapes and all your CDs and burn them. 'Cause you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years were rrreal fucking high on drugs.

..and then the above Rebecca Black song was used as a counter example of music without drugs :D

the federal government is so out of touch . I give them a 0 for credibility. 75 yrs of lies from the feds like they had any credibility anyway!! only 2 corrupt groups want it illegal, drug gangs and the dea. One in the same in my eyes!!

if America doesn't make a big change right now, the war against liberty will intensify.

it will be too late later, even if many still think it's just fun and games.

don't hold to a narrow view, where, since you're living the dream, the rest doesn't matter...

people are doing hard time for no crime, and cultural " cleansing " still going on, but many people seem oblivious.

If anyone wants to vent their frustrations on this to some loyal Obamabot followers, go here:

Note that the article features this little gem:

DeAngelo said that he raised money for Obama in 2008, but was thinking of voting for a Republican such as Ron Paul in 2012.

I normally don't mind the winters, but this winter with all the snow and still freezing March is frustrating/depressing especially with the flooding threats looming on the horizon.

Its always this time of the year that is the worst, waiting for the thaw to come, seeing the news about how spring is already blooming in the south; Even though I know spring is just around the corner. But once the thaw finally comes, relief! I love March once things start thawing out. We are off to a late start this year

It looks like a change is on tap after this week, sure we'll have a few slushy snow storms yet, but atleast it looks like the snow is going to start melting at the same time.
