In a Fox News poll released Wednesday, Romney received the backing of 18 percent of GOP primary voters. He's followed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 13 percent, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 11 percent and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at 10 percent. Perry and Giuliani have not declared their candidacies.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, also undeclared, is now in single digits at 8 percent support, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul garners the support of 7 percent.
All other candidates receive the support of 5 percent or less.

Put this together with the PPP poll of Texas today, and you are going to get schizophrenia...

The thought by those who "know" is that if Perry gets in, it turns into a Romney vs. Perry matchup instantaneously. And we all know that Perry's middle initial is B for Bilderberg.

Perry is pure establishment to the core. He will be backed by the media very strongly.

I've already said that he is the (Bilderberg) chosen one, as he attended and spoke at the 2007 Bilderberg meeting, and there are rumors that he attended this year as well.
Just sayin.

Well, I don't really care who the establishment clone is, whom we fight in the primary, it is the nonsense about him being tea party that is nonplussing.

At the tea party meeting I attended last week everybody was saying that they wished Perry would run. Made me sick. We handed out Ron Paul literature and most of them were completely uninterested.

It looks like Perry is going to be the man to fear this election cycle, not Obama or Romney. I will do everything in my power to make sure this man is not elected.

And what the heck, while you're at it look at Bachmann's Minnesota...(I know she's not the governor, but still...)

Has any professional polling org. put Giuliani above Ron Paul YET in 2011?

With a budget gap like that, one would think that Gov. Perry has a future political career in Athens.

Rick Perry is a non-starter for the Republicans. In the recent AP-GfK poll, he had the lowest approval rating (among all voters) of ANY Republican candidate. He can't win, and his indecisiveness about getting into the race should be highlighted every chance we get. Strong leaders are not indecisive.

In the Des Moines Register Iowa poll Perry had 43% favorable to 8% unfavorable with 49% unsure. I sure hope he doesn't run but if he does it may dilute the establishment and faux tea party vote like Paul said.

Okay, these polls irritate me to no end...... Fox can choose who they call... which are probably the same ones from the calling list of 2008.... I don't understand how these polls have any legitimacy because THEY CHOOSE WHO THEY CALL. It means absolutely nothing, yet you'll see hundreds of articles pop out praising Romney because of this one poll and at the same time you see Ron Paul owning the internet.

At least Cain dropped to 5%. That's good!

This is the second national poll today with Perry at 13%. Check out the list at realclearpolitics.
Ron is up from the last Fox News poll, so that is good news.

There's 2 good things about this poll: There are only 2 actual candidates above Ron Paul, and Cain is down in the single digits below him. Despite Fox's big push for him, he couldn't maintain his numbers.
Bachmann's walking through the fire now, and I expect people to become similarly disenchanted with her. Her "electability" comes into question when she keeps making all these stupid, mistaken statements. Add in her questionable record that's starting to leak out, and I don't see how she can stay at the top. An IRS lawyer that takes welfare?

it would be nice to have a straight poll of the announced candidates. I think Palin and Perry are included to dilute the votes and keep Romney propped and other candidates in single digits.
I can't wait until our own Pollster conducts his own poll

They are selling their candidates and here we are playing pc patrol on forums.
What could we do to combat perry, get dems to switch over and vote for ron paul a.s.a.p?
If the tea party is hoping for perry then that tea party isn't what it says it is.

What I care about is that she has come up with zero good policy positions herself, only steals Rons (well the social conservative, growth of police state and international intervention stuff comes from elsewhere) and yet people think she won't be dependent on special interest 'think tanks' as president? She won't know the difference between good policy and bad policy, and shifts too much with the winds (ie voting for Pelosi's stimulus bill and the Paul Ryan plan which would necessitate raising the debt limit and increasing the deficit) for anyone to think she will stand up to special interest pressure on the President.

Conversation I had in 2000:
Him: I'm votin' for Bush because I believe in edjukashun.
Me: But Texas was ranked 48th in the nation for education.
Him: Well, I don't nec'sarily believe them studies. Ya cain't believe all of 'em.
Me: It was done by the Rand Corporation.
Him: Well....... I'm still voting for Bush.
There's a reason these people are called Dittoheads. I think our best bet is to lambaste them at the end of the day for all of the many candidates (starting with Trump) they've been 'all for' over the course of the thing and try to shame them into doing the right thing. But I'm not holding my breath.
Probably the best thing would be to convince them to stay home on primary day, but I don't know how. So, our best realistic bet is to figure out how to win Iowa. Thank God it's a caucus state.
