There had been rumors here earlier that McClintock might get behind Paul if he rose enough in the polls, but looks like we took too long and he's getting behind Thompson. Ah well... win some lose some.

We don't need endorsements to win. We need every man, woman and child spreading the message, becoming delegates, and getting new voters for Dr. Paul.

Bad Move. He should have waited until late January to do endorse someone.

George Washington McLintock: I know I'm gonna use good judgement. I haven't lost my temper in 40 years, but pilgrim you caused a lot of trouble this monring, might have got somebody killed... and somebody oughta belt you in the mouth. But I won't, I won't. The hell I won't ... [Belts man in the mouth]

that is lame. I had hopes he would support Ron Paul. So he goes with Thompson... not sure what these people are thinking.

John Wayne would've endorsed Ron Paul. :)

We do need endorsements. It gets the average person who won't change their position behind newer candidates.

John Wayne would've endorsed Ron Paul. :)

And if he did that would make Iowa a lot easier to win.

That's REALLY lame of McClintock, I've always respected him because he is a true conservative with libertarian leanings fighting the socialist nuts in our CA state government, and he has come out against Ahnold on many of his idiotic positions. I have no idea why he would endorse FT who is FAR from a real conservative or libertarian!

Big Daddy Don Garlits supports Ron Paul - does he count?

If they aren't going to actively campaign for the candidate, I could care less. Much of this campaign is made up of independents, libertarians, disaffected Republicans and Democrats.

We need to pick up more non-voters. The Republican base is small and fractured between a lot of candidates. It can be overcome.

will McClintock be experiencing endorsement remorsement? I thinks so.

Here are Senator McClintock's remarks...

I’m For Fred Thompson…

It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a presidential candidate that I felt I could trust to respect our Constitution, defend our borders, reduce the burdens of government on our families – and at the same time that has the natural ability to reach the millions of voters who feel that neither party stands for these principles any longer.

Ronald Reagan’s brilliance was a combination of two things: his heartfelt belief in traditional Republican principles and his ability to communicate those beliefs to others. He didn’t change his positions from one election to the next. He steered a steady course and no one had to guess where he would stand tomorrow. And because he was honestly dedicated to that uniquely American view of individual liberty, he could communicate it to voters who never considered themselves Republicans, but who believe as we believe.

After spending months watching the field of presidential candidates develop, I have become convinced that only one combines these two vital qualities. For that reason, I have decided to do everything I can to support Fred Thompson’s campaign for the Presidency.

We simply can’t afford to get this election wrong. I believe that our basic values and freedoms as Americans are at stake on the outcome of this election. Every one of us has a right to expect something much more than the same establishment candidates that both parties have produced for the last 20 years. But that right isn’t automatic: it has to be claimed by exertions equal to its importance. And I don’t remember a campaign since 1980 that has been more important to the future of our nation.

So I am going to do everything I can to rally behind Fred Thompson’s campaign, and I hope that you agree that this is the most important chance we’ve had to renew the Reagan coalition for this next generation.

If you haven’t already done so, please join me today at www.fred08.com.

I am very disappointed in McClintock. I thought him a man of principle - what principles has Fred Thompson espoused beside some ambiguous, feel-good cliches? Here is McClintock's email address:

He is scared. Most politicians spend their lives trying desperately to retain power. If McClintock stood on principle in this election, he'd be risking his state senate seat and his hope to be California's next governor UNLESS he could be sure that RP would win. By supporting Fred, he maintains his credentials as a "loyal" Republican regardless of how Fred does.

Not to mention that his hat streak is in jeopardy now...

Look on the bright side...to get an endorsement from most of the senators would be just about as bad as getting one from Bush himself! Let's be thankful for the staunch conservatives like Tennesse'w own Rep. Duncan who was one of Dr. Paul's earliest endorsers.

Here's McClintock's website: http://www.carepublic.com/index.html

Here's what I wrote.

How disappointing.

I would have thought that California's voice for traditional conservatism would have endorsed the one presidential candidate who stands for traditional conservatism.

The Tom McClintock I proudly voted for in 2002, 2003, and 2006 was a man who I thought stood up for what was right. The man who got screamed at by GOP hacks like Pete Wilson for demanding spending be restrained. The man who refused to back down when everyone got on the Arnold bandwagon because he knew the race needed a conservative voice.

The Tom McClintock of today could have continued his trend of putting principle over the party line by endorsing Ron Paul. A man who stands for many of the same issues I once believed Tom McClintock stood for. Alas, Tom McClintock has sold out. He's backing a hack whose bandwagon is based upon his stint as an actor.

See??? We should have just moved him to NH - Paul is beating Thompson here, so he would have endorsed Ron if he were here, right??? ;) :)

What a piece of shit.
What is the fascination with getting behind someone (or a team) only when you think that person (or team) will win?
