Conservative newspaper NewsMax has endorsed Texas Congressman Ron Paul over Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann as the true voice of the growing Liberty movement within the Republican Party.
“Bachmann looks almost opportunistic” in comparison to Paul, writes Doug Wead in his June 28 article, Tea Party’s Pick: Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul?, noting the Libertarian-Conservative is “the man who made it fashionable to believe in the constitution again” and “has been consistent over a lifetime and seemingly incorruptible.”
Wead lists several of Bachmann’s shortcomings, which include:
Two terms in Congress for Bachmann, as opposed to 12 terms for Paul.
As a legislator in Minnesota, Bachmann allegedly proposed US$60 million in earmarks.
In Congress, in 2007, Bachmann appropriated US$3.7 million in federal pork.
A report shows Bachmann’s counseling clinic got US$30,000 in state and federal subsidies, and a family farm received a US$260,000 federal farm subsidy.
In 2008 Bachmann voted for Nancy Pelosi’s stimulus bill.
