The state’s medical marijuana program is on life support now, thanks to Gov. Chris Christie’s latest bit of bureaucratic sabotage.

This law, which offers a measure of compassion to patients in severe pain, was signed by Gov. Jon Corzine on his last day in office. It was supposed to be ready within six months — about a year ago — but the administration has placed one absurd hurdle after another in its path.

Christie pulled out the big gun. Because marijuana is illegal under federal law, he said, he will not allow the program to move forward until federal authorities assure him they will not prosecute.

Looks like he is a wimp for not telling the Feds that it is none of their business what laws get passed in NJ so long as they are not unconstitutional.

I mean really, please? Asking the Feds permission before he signs a law in his own state? Why even have a Governor or State government at all if that's what he is going to do? Why not just fold all of it under the Feds and let DC be the 1 nationalist government over all the land on all issues? Surely they know best.

start the lawsuits. California has been through 16 years of lawsuits.

This guy is a candy ass.

I don't get the hard-ons for Christie by the GOP. He occasionally acts like a conservative in front of the cameras but usually reverts to kowtowing to DC when the cameras are off.

I only like him for going against the corrupt teachers union, but that doesn't mean the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Christie was never a state's rights guy. So this doesn't surprise me.
