STAND-UP GUY. Rep. Glen Bradley asks county commissioners and residents to oppose plans by the General Assembly to redraw Franklin County’s House district, cutting it in half and providing Nash County with a majority stake in the district.

I've been giving this a lot of thought because they're doing the same thing to Granville County, only worse. We'll get no voice in the NC Senate because they're taking the whole county and lumping us with a high population chunk of Durham. Since there is ~190,000 people in a Senate district and only 60,000 people in Granville, even the Democrats and minorities in Granville can be safely ignored by a candidate out of Durham and you know that's where any Senator will come from. The only leverage that I think we can yield is for the Franklin and Granville GOPs to send a joint letter to the redistricting committee with CCs to Robin Hayes and all statewide GOP candidates' campaign headquarters threatening a boycott of support for all statewide candidates if the Committee doesn't rethink this. That's thousands of Republican votes staying home in a state where Republican voters have a 700,000 vote deficit. Hopefully they'll see they can't risk alienating any GOP constituency under this circumstance and statewide candidates will put pressure on the Ledge and Hayes. But it will require a fast decision and fast action on the part of the two County GOP Parties because the window is closing.
