The federal government has a growing interest in the eating habits of Americans for the same reason it has an interest in tobacco consumption, said Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The reason is money, because three-quarters of medical-spending is driven by chronic diseases, such as obesity and tobacco-related diseases, she said.

Sebelius’ comments came at the tail-end of Tuesday’s White House press conference where officials showcased nine new photos that must be carried on cigarette packs. I believe that others here had made this very prediction.

It is logically predictable and expected.

One cannot have personal liberty without economic liberty. This fact, always gets in the way of the oxymoronic Progressive Socialist, who so-called favors personal liberties, then extols economic despotism, thereby giving faculty to the State to tell us how to live by way of them being the middle-man in the transfer of stolen goods. When the State takes over economic strata and action, they will too at the same token in arguments for cost-cutting restrict our most fundamental personal liberty. The only cogent position is the libertarian one.

Bastards will not be happy until they can tax it at 50 percent like Lucky Strikes .. I buy a pack of 72 red Marlboro at 4.39 , there is one dollar of state tax , one dollar of Fed tax and 7 percent sales tax on top. That is the model they will use for potato chips.
