Here in WA we have a bill with 30 cosponsors to ban traffic cameras that we'll be re-introducing in next year's session.

I have seen legislation in other states dealing with competing currencies, banning TSA groping, ending federal healthcare mandates, eliminating taxes on gold and silver, etc.

We need a bank of example legislation that grassroots groups in different states can pull from to advocate issues at the state level. These example bills could be tweaked to better apply to each state's constitution and legal code.

However, this is a huge project. I have had several ideas about potential legislation. One them that could unite many of them could be something like "Legalize the Constitution" banner. One way this theme could be followed would be to group legislative ideas by the Federal Constitution amendment each pertains to. For example:

Legislation to Legalize the Constitution:

1st Amendment:

Fines and other penalties may not be imposed for campaign finance violations
Preventing government shutdown of websites
Preventing websites from being shut down by government or public pressure

2nd Amendment:

Eliminate the need for concealed carry permits

3rd Amendment:

Property taxes cannot be used for purposes connected or related to the military

4th Amendment:

Eliminations of no-knock raids for drug crimes
Outlawing any type of electronic, light, heat or other types of invisible scanning to be used

5th Amendment:

The right to refuse to allow police to collect bodily fluids as evidence
Judges must instruct juries of their right to decide on the validity of the law
After Mirandizing a suspect, police may not question suspects without a lawyer present
Limitation on the time seized items may be held without a conviction

6th Amendment:

Caseload limits for public defenders

7th Amendment:

Trial by jury for all violations where violations exceed $20
Allowing all fines and fees to be paid with community service

8th Amendment:

Setting bail standards

9th Amendment:

Broadly defining rights to be retained by the people

10th Amendment:

Applying all Washington State protections to Federal activities
Exempting Washington States citizens from federal laws not adhering to WA standards

No checkpoints by federal agencies.
No aerial spying, unmanned or otherwise
Trial by jury required for all federal cases where violations exceed $20 Outlawing of federal searches without a warrant

There are others I have listed elsewhere, but these are some ideas that come immediately to mind. Your thoughts? Also, this is something that would require a lot of people to be involved in, but activists are one thing we have no shortage of!

Another set of bills could go after SWAT teams. 1) Eliminating them from being used for misdemeanors. 2) restricting them to only hostage situations or where there's clear and present danger. 3) Eliminating them altogether.
