It is not official but I am considering a run for congress in 2014 in California's 30th Congressional District as a Citizens Party Candidate.

I recently set up a campaign platform:

Taking on "THE RAT" The district is currently represented by Democrat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_%28United_States%29) Henry A. Waxman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Waxman)

You'd have better odds of winning running against Pete Stark in the 13th district... ;)

the "Citiizen's PARTY" fuscia color is hard to view on your webpage.

Words misspelled: elderly, assistance, duties, adequate, illnesses, becoming, restrictions, licenses, Zoroastrians, Baha'i, zoning, addressing, position, hijacking, strictly, segregated.

I haven't checked the grammar.

I agree with Austin, start with something more local and attainable and use that as a springboard for a future congressional run. Run for a county-wide office or state rep.

hmmm..

Ban any unneeded animal research..
Provide free healthcare for those who cannot afford it
Tax the rich, but not the poor..
Punish Corporations that pollute the air (who does the deciding on what is polluting?)
Improve US relations with Russia.? (how? giving them money?)

for the most part platform sound good, but these things i listed I have problems with, few being a big deal.

As a former Libertarian Party congressional candidate I would agree that you should try to run as a Republican.

It's a name brand. I understand all of the reasons for going third party but you're setting yourself up for disaster.

People choose Coke or Pepsi...D or R.

Some people choose Safeway Select, but not that many...

Or LP

I'd think the LP would be the homemade soda.

From your platform:

Healthcare: Provide free healthcare for those who cannot afford it such as the ederly, poor, handicapped, and mentally ill.

Government should be able to produce generic medications themselves instead of subsidizing pharmaceutical companies.

Bring back Glass Steagal.

Institute a Tobin Tax on financial speculation.

Replace revenue with a 10% sales tax, tariffs on foreign goods, and a tobin tax on speculation

Social Security: Opposed to privatization

Put Tariffs on foreign goods that mach the Tariff rate that nations puts on American goods.

Environment: Punish Corporations that pollute the air, water, and land. Preserve and expand National Parks and Wilderness Lands. Fight Urban Sprawl with sensible zonning laws and adressing overpopulation caused by massive immigration. Support investing in mass transit and alternative energy.

Animal Rights: Harsher punishment for Animal cruelty. Ban any unneeded animal research such as for the development of cosmetics.

Prison must be stricly segragated taking into account race, sexual orientation, criminal record, mental illness, violence level, and body type.

Ummm... why are you announcing your run on a libertarian site? Bring back back Glass Steagal? Are you nuts?

From Wiki:

The first Glass-Steagall Act of 1932 was enacted in an effort to stop deflation, and expanded the Federal Reserve's ability to offer rediscounts on more types of assets, such as government bonds as well as commercial paper.[14] The second Glass–Steagall Act (the Banking Act of 1933) was a reaction to the collapse of a large portion of the American commercial banking system in early 1933. Literature in economics usually refers to this latter act simply as the Glass–Steagall Act, since it had a stronger impact on US banking regulation.

How can you advocate eliminating the fed on one hand and giving it more power on the other?

You make a good a point. I object to giving the Fed more power, especially since it is run by private bankers. One area of dissagreement I have with many libertarians is that they are rightfully appauled by the Fed but have no problem letting private banksters do what they please to rip off the public as long as they are no recieving government subsidies. Way to much of our econimic capital is concentrated in finance rather than producitve capital. Banks are way to big. Obviously they should not of been bailed out but they should not of been allowed to get that big in the first place. I support County Credi Unions as an alternative to big banks and limitations on lending rates at debt.

Expand national parks? More gov't property?
Free healthcare?
Taxing just the rich, e.g., punishing the successful?

Are you sure you're posting on the correct forums, sir?

Read one or all or these:

Do you have a supporter base? Do you have access to funds or obtaining contributions? If you are not known in the district... get yourself known. Ask yourself 'why am I running'... if its for personal aggrandizement, reconsider. Write articles, speak at local groups... there's a lot of work to be done.

If your positions are accurately represented on the site your referenced... don't waste your time.

I updates by platform. I main issue I want to to get out is debt free banking. Our economy is based on debt in both the public and private sector.
