Pennsylvania: Romney leads field (http://gop12.thehill.com/2011/06/pennsylvania-romney-leads-field.html)

A new Quinnipiac survey (http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1327.xml?ReleaseID=1611) shows Mitt Romney ahead in a Pennsylvania primary.

1. Mitt Romney 21%

2. Rick Santorum 16%

3. Sarah Palin 11%

4. Herman Cain 8%

5. Ron Paul 6%

6. Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich 5%

8. Tim Pawlenty 4%

9. Jon Huntsman 1%

General Election Match-ups:

a. Barack Obama 47% Mitt Romney 40%

b. Barack Obama 49% Rick Santorum 38%

This is a bleak poll for the Republican field.

a. Obama leads Romney and Santorum among independents. This, despite the awful economy.

b. Pennsylvanians think Obama should be reelected 48%/46%. This, despite the awful economy.

c. Obama's approval rating has jumped 6% since April. This, despite the awful economy.

You see the pattern -- despite the awful economy, Obama is holding his own and then some against the Republican field.

As for the GOP primary, Santorum performs so well, thanks to the fact that PA is his homestate.

Rick SANTORUM??????

I figured every dog seemed to be getting his day, but that dog, I was sure was not ever going to get one.

I think Cain will be way down in the next but in the next Bachmann will be up for at least a poll cycle particularly if they like SANTORUM.

People like Santorum?

edit - ok he was from PA. But they voted him OUT!!!!

I guess 16% isn't really that big a share.

But I just can't get over the idea that 16% of anyone anywhere like SANTORUM!!

>> 6. Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich 5%

Based on their body language during the debate, I'm not surprised that they're paired up here!
