The US House of Representatives voted to prohibit the use of funds for American military operations in Libya.

Lawmakers adopted the amendment to a military appropriations bill by a vote of 248 to 163.

A number of members of Congress have recently expressed their dissatisfaction at President Barack Obama's decision to go ahead with operations in Libya in March and to continue without congressional authorization.

The amendment, introduced by Democratic representative Brad Sherman from California, invokes the War Powers Resolution, a 1973 law that limits presidential powers on sending troops abroad into combat zones without the consent of Congress.

The Federal Reserve will just print more money. That or Obama will have to sell crack again in the mean streets of Chicago again to fund his operations.

Hah!

That's for Direct Funding in a new bill... everyone is forgetting that the US State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and CIA are funding the Libya War.

Rep. Brad Sherman's bill to audit/kill any financing through secondary departments "RAINY DAY FUNDS aka GENERAL FUNDS aka PETTY CASH" being used, was killed the day before the Big Boehner vs. Kucinich Bills. The amendment passed on Military construction/veterens bill but not on DHS's amendment. Funds can travel through DHS to any country in the world.

There's approximately $90 BILLION in Classified US FUNDS that don't have to answer to any American Voter. Remember it's never a direct Yea or Ney on funding, because the government comes up with creative ways to launder it through other agencies and entities.

Libya Rebuke Passes House

by Ali on June 14, 2011

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) introduced (http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/house/166119-rep-sherman-again-forces-war-powers-vote) an amendment (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d112:4:./temp/%7EbdHUZ1::%7C/bss/%7C) to the Military Construction/Veterans Affairs appropriations bill banning government funding for activities in violation of the War Powers Resolution. House Amendment 414 to House Resolution 2055 passed with a vote of 248-163. Sherman failed to append his amendment to the Homeland Security appropriations bill last week. Last month, he met (http://bradsherman.house.gov/2011/05/congressman-brad-sherman-meets-with-interim-prime-minister-of-libyan-rebels.shtml) with Libyan Transnational Council leader Mahmoud Jibirl pressing the later over the rebels’ purported al Qaeda ties.
Walter Pincus in the Washington Post evaluates (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/congress-does-good-and-bad-on-libya-legislation/2011/06/05/AGrBvdKH_story.html)other legislative measures and strategies to check executive power in the Libya intervention. He argues that Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s (D-OH) bill calling for withdrawal failed in part because Rep. John Boehner’s (R-OH) subsequent bill calling for a mission briefing offered a moderate alternative. Pincus’ concerns were summed up by Rep. Jeff Flake (http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Jeff_Flake)(R-Ariz.) who is “concerned about the puzzling, confusing, mystifying signal that we send by passing a resolution that affirms that the president has not fulfilled his constitutional or statutory obligations, yet offers no remedy, only a mild rebuke, followed by a questionnaire,” referring to the itemized points of clarification in Boehner’s bill.

"Our Spineless US Congress" .... Does bailout Boehner and his cohorts have the cojones? Frankly, anything short of impeaching Obama for thumbing his nose at the US Congress while unconstitutionally attacking Libya constitutes a lack of resolve. Thankfully, we have a few decent members in the US Congress, but Boehner isn't one of them. Maybe, Boehner will surprise us ... at least once.
