Was dreaming about this last night...

Anyone here into parachuting, ultralights, gliders or RC aircraft?

Was thinking of parasailing which uses a regular parachute that is dragged by a boat to remain airborne which is an obvious downside but has serious advertizing potential:

however, the more rectangular parachute type behaves more like a glider and can catch thermals to stay aloft longer. Gliders have in the past been launched with a car, a length of cable and an open stretch of road...

Powered ultralights can stay airborne just about forever, just kicking in the engine when they need to gain altitude and some are rated for banner towing.

As to RC aircraft, some have really rectangular wings, so I dug up a 4'x2' "yard sign" from last campaign and pondered that... Add a 1"x1/2" plank, an engine, tail, some RC stuff and an energy source and you have something that should fly... OK, a bit more to it than that, but very bare bones and cheap to pull off, especially if you already have the RC stuff.

Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there and maybe stir some creative juices...

I flew rc planes for a few years, got a bit too expensive in this economy or maybe because I crashed em a bit too much trying to get em all over 100mph. Back in the previous election my fellow flyers and I wanted to do a banner behind them and fly them over local events.

It could work great as well as those who are at lakes and beaches and can get parasails and chutes and anything else marketing as well.

great idea
