before and after.

That's f-ing amazing! Most of the time when someone goes through trauma of this magnitude, the Happy is gone from their face. She still has it. I'm not just talking about a smile, but that undefinable aura. very

I was wondering when they would release some pictures. Was kind of worried she would be horribly disfigured.

She's looking pretty dam good, considering she got shot in the head!

Yes, that was very sad, but what is this doing in a thread celebrating someone's recovery from being shot?

Glad to hear it. She's getting the best care our money can buy. Certainly better than our brain injured troops get (http://www.propublica.org/blog/item/in-houston-rep.-giffords-could-receive-brain-injury-treatment-thousands-of-).

Has anyone heard anything about how Loughner's other victims other doing?

good to hear.

It's great that she's doing so well. But just as an observation, to me she looks like a completely different person in the before and after photos. It's amazing what trauma can do to a person.

I'm really glad to see she is doing better. I feel so sorry for her, although I hope she doesn't run and become a senator from Arizona.

The guy is Jose Guerena, who was shot in Arizona recently by police. There are numerous other threads on it.

I'm with Walter Matthau in BAD NEWS BEARS: "Never ASS|U|ME. It makes an ASS out of U and ME." I don't presume to know why TruckinMike posted that photo.

What I generally call Commoners or Rank & File in my work -- sometimes Serfs, sometimes Chumps -- are called Mundanes around here, yes?

My reaction/impulse/thought/interpretation, instantly, was that it was a so-to-speak-SHOT at how Mundanes make a bigger deal out of an Official getting shot than a Mundane getting shot, just like OFFICIALS make a bigger deal out of an Official getting shot than a Mundane getting shot.

Surely THAT is the broken-est part of the whole System, bedrock to WAR 4 PROFIT.

YEP, said I to me.

Is that what he said? I don't know why he edited out his response.

No that's just who the picture is of :p Anyhow, it could be what cheap said. I don't know. I still find it tacky.

It's nice she is doing better, but I could care less. My care-o-meter towards Government officials is non-existent. I have more sympathy for the people who get raided and killed by SWAT and other domestic terrorists calling themselves Government. Likewise, if I would have been a colonial, I don't think I would have wept for the tax-officials getting tarred by the Sons of Liberty. The one thing I do care about though in regards to this situation is the principle. Defend your property, yourself, your community & your family. Don't go looking for conflict. It's counter-productive, however, I must say this whole episode is the aristocratic symptom of our time. Everyone cares about this 'official', but you nary hear a peep about all the other folks KILLED by this murderer. You only hear outrage because it was a goddamn politician involved. Where's the outrage for the daily domestic terrorists killing US citizens? Whatever happened to that little girl in Detroit? Such a sad state of affairs.

Coupla other things.

"We" have been paying her salary these many months, as well as medical care that precious few Taxpayers or Others could afford or would receive, should Taxpayer or Other be shot by Official. And who are these aides that constitute "THE OFFICE OF GABRIELLE GIFFORDS"?

It also brings the cost/benefit FARCE of Homeland Security into stark relief. Do I not recollect EIGHTY BILLION DOLLARS as the amount "we" spent on "Intelligence" in 2010 alone? Could that possibly be right? Whatever is the wild number, coupled with steady TSA degradation, and it meant FUCK-ALL in Tuscon. DESPITE a paper trail as a Loose Cannon.

All the deaths in Iraq plus all the deaths in Afghanistan plus all the deaths in Somalia/Yemen/Tunisia/Egypt/Libya have not impacted American Officialdom as much as one bullet in one Official head. That's not instigating or provoking or inciting or even slandering. That's the damn truth. Jack Webb, DRAGNET: Just the facts.

I'm glad she is doing better. Hopefully she will speak out against the horrid slant the left wingers in the media used to take advantage of her situation to gain political points for Dems.

be careful what you wish for; if she recovers quickly she is a shoo-in for the senate next year; I want that seat to go to Jeff Flakes, or a Goldwater.
