This should win the votes of waiters/waitresses and bartenders across the country.

There's one congressman who will never have to pay for a drink in Manhattan.

Rep. Ron Paul, the libertarian-leaning Republican presidential candidate from Texas, has become an unlikely hero among bar and restaurant workers as he fights for a bill that would end all taxes on tips -- the bread and butter of bartenders and waiters.

Last Thursday, a group of Paul's Big Apple supporters, called the Ron Paul NYC Liberty HQ, held a Manhattan pub crawl in support of the legislation.

"It's just not right. That money is supposed to be a gratuity for [the workers], not for the government," said Dominic Inferrera, 38, a volunteer with the group.

"I worked as a server for 10 years, and I know how hard it can be," he said. "The sad thing is that a lot of the servers end up getting audited at the end of the year and usually work so hard that they don't have the time or financial resources to handle it."

Paul introduced the Tax Free Tips Act of 2011 in March. The measure would end all income tax, Social Security withholding and other federal levees on any tips earned by salaried workers.

"Unlike regular wages, a service-sector employee usually has no guarantee of, or legal right to, a tip," Paul said in 2009, when he introduced a similar bill.

"Instead, the amount of a tip usually depends on how well an employee satisfies a client. Since the amount of taxes one pays increases along with the size of tip, taxing tips punishes workers for doing a superior job."

As Liberty HQ members spread the word of Paul's proposal to bar workers around the city, they got enthusiastic support.

We should try bringing that up as much as possible in Nevada. That &
Ron Paul's belief that gamblers should be able to play online poker.

In another thread we suggested someone make a card to leave every time you eat out that says something like, "This tip was meant for you, not the government. Support Ron Paul's bill..."

I tried it, but can't figure out how to post it.

Waters and waitresses who are forced to give up some of their gratuity should demand the same health benefits that your average public sector employee gets. They'd reverse the tip-tax real quick then.

We need Ron Paul 2012 business cards left at every table we eat at talking about this.

That's a good idea.

"Don't let the government steal your gratuity, support H.R. ___" Then beneath that: "Ron Paul 2012"

You can gift $13k to someone "tax-free" but you cant even gift a dollar if they are in a certain profession...

Anyway, here we are watching the NYPost reporter interview the bartender

Couple different design ideas. But one that I haven't heard would be to create a certificate (framed) for the business to display that expresses their support for the bill. The goal would to have it look more business related than political...the effect of the patrons seeing the certificate over time would be awesome...needs to look more boring and official, again so it doesn't look like a political endorsement.
...boring like:

An organization like BFTP Businesses for Fair Tax Practices or something that they can
be a "member of" expressing support for Ron Paul's bill...

I've been writing on the receipt "Ron Paul wants to eliminate the taxes on your tip! Ron Paul 2012 for President!!!"

As an avid reader of the forums for the past several months, I have decided that this is the perfect opportunity for me to help restore the republic. The "Tax Free Tips Act of 2011" is a genius piece of legislation that needs to be pushed and catapulted into every restaurant in the country.

This Friday, I am mailing a letter to every restaurant in my city, Danville, Virginia. I am simply stating that every restaurant needs to be contacting their congressman and get this pushed hard. I am also including a PDF http://www.maresco.us/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Tax-Free-Tip-Act-Flier.pdf These will be pre-cut and on very nice card stock. My hope is that restaurant owners will at least make these available to their employees. This is a win win for waiters/waitresses/busboys/bartenders and restaurant owners.

Maybe this idea will allow others to follow suit and get the word out. This could help resonate much positivity into the campaign and help Dr. Paul gain a ton of momentum with new younger voters.
