The first three digits of Obama's SSN are 042. That code of 042 falls within the range of numbers for Connecticut, which according to the Social Security Administration has been 040 through 049.

The national news media has been virtually silent on this potentially criminal fact.

Indeed, when Fox News finally attempted to explain it, it broadcast false information and then scrubbed it from its website.

Birthers never quit. Sorry but this proves nothing even if it is true.

The Area Number is assigned by the geographical region. Prior to 1972, cards were issued in local Social Security offices around the country and the Area Number represented the State in which the card was issued. This did not necessarily have to be the State where the applicant lived, since a person could apply for their card in any Social Security office.

what you say is definitely true -- it proves nothing. the important thing is that the discovery phase has been reached and subpoenas can be issued, which couldn't be done before. also, it's odd that he has a SSN issued in Connecticut, where he went to school. why wouldn't he have one from HI where he supposedly was born? could it be because he was a foreign student? maybe we will find out why.

I was born in MA, however my first three SS numbers start with 001 because I was registered in New Hampshire.

Not a focus.
But it is interesting, and I am in favor of wrenches in the machine.

anybody ever teach you that it's harder to beat an incumbent than a non-incumbent?

yes, one goal is to get him the nomination, but that does us no good if he loses the general election! we have to do both, so anything that makes it easier for the general is good.

This makes it easier for Obama in the general.

I never knew what the first 3 numbers were. Mine actually correlates to the state I was born in.

Before 1980, you got a Social Security card when you got your first job, so he probably got his first job in CT.

I was born in '76 and had a SS card/number long before I had a job.
