The title pretty much says it all.

It would be enormously beneficial for us to have a consistent and concerted effort to give RP videos on YouTube the StumbleUpon thumbs up.

Those of us who have run websites can tell you that the traffic this can drive to a site is astounding. For example, within only two hours the other day, StumbleUpon directed 3,214 visitors to WWRPD.org.

The key thing to note here is that these are not people searching for Ron Paul... they are NEW sets of eyes who simply "stumble upon" him as a direct result of our actions.

Thanks, and I look forward to your feedback.

My roommate always uses StumbleUpon and says it's the greatest thing ever.

I have never used it before. I believe you have to install a special toolbar? What are the basics of doing this?

not a bad idea

an already highly penetrated segment though via digg, etc.

we need to come up with ideas to convert people who read traditional newspapers and watch tv as their main source of information.

I don't think so. My roommate doesn't use Digg, and they don't have the same cross-section of users, I'm sure... StumbleUpon will give you a website without you choosing it. On Digg, people have to click on something that says "Ron Paul" to get to a Ron Paul story, but for StumbleUpon someone would say that their interest is politics or liberty and they would automatically get sent to a YouTube video of Ron Paul.

I think it's an excellent idea, but I'm not sure exactly how the site works.

the way I recall it - haven't used it in a while as it's not super friendly - you submit a site then viewers give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.

read any of the article with more than 15 votes to get a better idea of how to best use it...

For those who asked, the tool bar is safe. StumbleUpon is actually a subsidiary of eBay now.

Digg and Stumble do not have the same audience. My dad (retired Navy captain and lifelong Republican) LOVES Stumble but I am sure has never heard of Digg.

Also, as one very skeptical of toolbars (e.g., Alexa), Stumble is as safe as Google or Yahoo!

Hell, I just gave this forum thread the Stumble thumbs up. :)

Yikes! No, not EVERYTHING Ron Paul!!! If we do something like that, they'll just install a Ron Paul filter.

Just those few, very special videos that we feel are particularly excellent.

Which part of internet users does not translate to voters do you not understand?. Tell me this...Have you registered as republican?. Have you encouraged other supporters to register republican and vote for Ron Paul. If you haven't done so, there is no point in all this stumbleupon, youtube...doesn't mean s**t!!!

This is a frustratingly obtuse post. Broaden your horizons, my friend. Anyone who thinks we have used up 100% of the internet's usefulness should not be replying to this thread I posted on this forum on the internet.

In regards to your snide innuendo: I have passed out hundreds of business cards and slim jims as well as RP dvds, I dressed as Ron Paul for a Halloween party where there were dozens of politically active people, I've started two Ron Paul related websites, I have a Revolution sign in my front yard, 2 bumper stickers on my car, and I debate my liberal Democratic friends at every opportunity espousing the virtues of Ron Paul and his political agenda.

how do you use this site???

First you need to make sure you are using the Firefox browser (Firefox.com). Then install the toolbar from StumbleUpon.com. It's really easy, I promise. My mom even uses it :)

Can I use Stumbleupon with out the tool bar? I hate adding tool bars to my explorer. I didn't pay all this money on my monitor to have it's area taken up by stupid toolbars.

"StumbleUpon is a brilliant downloadable toolbar that beds into your browser

The way to do this is to periodically give good YouTube videos a 5-star rating. I already do this. Then, people who particularly love YouTube can participate in the videos themself. We already have 50,000 videos on YouTube. For the first time I saw a video in the "most popular" category yesterday. Don't worry, we already have a strong presence there.

The idea is that StumbleUpon presents us with a new and different audience. There really is a huge potential here and it is significant enough that I am going to continue to work to convince others of the benefits.

This will allow us to reach thousands of people who otherwise might not or would not intentionally go to YouTube and search for the words 'Ron Paul'. Let's keep in mind that every new supporter can expand our ranks exponentially, so the number of people reached via StumbleUpon could turn into hundreds of thousands, or more.

The best part? After installing the toolbar (which, as others here have said, is actually *really* neat on its own) all you have to do is click one button.

Time spent: 1 millisecond.
Impact: profound.
