Perry's not even the top-rated Texan in the race. That distinction gos to U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Surfside, who's at 10 percent among registered voters who say they will vote in the Republican primary. The leader of the pack — and it's a narrow lead in a pack without a clear front-runner — is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, at 12 percent, followed by former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, at 11 percent, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 10 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota each have the support of 7 percent, followed by celebrity businessman Donald Trump, 6 percent; Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, 4 percent; former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, 3 percent; and Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana and former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah, at 1 percent each.

With Palin not looking like she's running and Gingrich self-imploding, this is good news.

Texas is too late to matter if all others are lost, so winning or being #2 in Iowa and NH is the only goal that matters now.

11% of Texans are idiots voting for Gingrich.

That's not going to happen. Remember, Huckabee and Palin support goes to Paul, so he's probably in the lead. Does anyone know when Texas is? Is it on Super Tuesday?

I don't think RP will get many from Huckster, those are mostly evangelicals. Palin maybe, but remember she has an attack first foreign policy.

Not necessarily this year. If the primaries that were scheduled for February move back to their regular dates because the RNC has attempted to make February off-limits to everyone but IA, NH, NV, and SC, then Texas could have its primary on the first Super Tuesday of the primary season, which is where it usually is anyway. 2008 was a very odd year as far as primary dates are concerned.
