View Full Version : Cheap National Flash Mob Advertising for Ron Paul idea!

I think it would be a good idea to get national exposure for as little money as possible.
I've suggested flash mobs in the past. For example, for the week running up to Super
Tuesday, we should get Ron Paul supporters to go the Today show window at NBC. We
should try to get as many supporters in the audiences of the Tonight Show, Leno, Conan,
Jimmy Fallon, George Lopez, & etc. ALL WEARING RON PAUL SHIRTS! Every time they show
the audience we get a free National airtime spot. Even if it's for a couple of seconds.
And if we can coordinate it well enough where Ron Paul supporters seem to be everywhere,
it would probably provide bonus mainstream news stories that show what we are doing.

If anyone can think of any other shows that we could get on that will be broadcasted on
that week, please add the links to this thread.

Here is the link to get tickets to Jay Leno (Need to book at least 4-6 weeks ahead of time)

I don't really think it has to be a flash mob. Having a few people go in over time wearing Ron Paul shirts is also a good idea, don't you think? Advertising works well when you repeatedly deliver the same message. Therefore a lot of people over time going to ANY TV show with a Ron Paul shirt is a good idea to get some free advertising out. I suggest you make an effort to find Ron Paul supporters in the vicinity of any TV show with an audience and a camera that sometimes takes shot of them. Then, ask those supporters to attend the TV show with a Ron Paul shirt on. As to how you find Ron Paul supporters in a specific area, that would be using the Meetup website or through asking the Ron Paul campaign for some names & phone numbers to call. You could also try the Campaign for Liberty website.

The value of having Ron Paul's name appearing even just once on national TV even on a game show has to be pretty high, so I like your idea a lot.

Now that I've commented on your thread, please comment on my "Issues Website" thread at http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?294719-Issue-Website-End-the-Fed

I think certain ideas like this are kinda campy... I mean do them if thats what motivates you but I think its time to take things to the next level..

most people know ron paul now..

Now we have to explain issues and get them to understand.

I think it's a great general idea ( a flash mob) given how many supporters he has. It would have to be a large group to make the impact, then we film it and send it around. It is background, but catches attention.

AND of course, sign up to volunteer at the campaign site and for Iowa, and canvas etc. But we can do this and others can't because Ron HAS this level of support, and we should flaunt it. Maybe an event should be planned -- low key, around some rally he will be at that will bring out crowds of his supporters naturally in any event.

I don't think that particular event you describe would make for a catchy video and I think they'd avoid airing it, but I really like the idea of a flash mob.

hahaha would be cool to have random Ron Paul flash mobs where everyone shows up at a location and at the given time takes off a shirt or jacket showing a Ron Paul t-shirt underneath and then chant Ron Paul for a minute or two before quietly leaving. The key would be to have them last a short amount of time to gain attention but now annoy. Tape them and put them on youtube.

I just think Flash Mobs are too campy and verge on annoying. I would just network, promote, advertise and engage.. I don't think we need any gimmicks or stunts unless they are positive and respectful.

Maybe as long as we didn't become annoying. I'm thinking of the knee jerk 'End the Fed' chants, appropos of nothing that interupt other speakers -- not so good.

I was thinking of something more elaborate so it would go viral because it was GOOD, but not sure what would work.

Per the OP, going on the Today Show is a great idea... Get 4-5 people and when the pan over the crowd, open up a button down shirt to reveal a RP 2012 shirt... live TV placement FTW.

By flash mobs, I don't mean that Ron Paul supporters should show up, do a routine, & then split.
They should act like any other audience. The only difference is that they're wearing the same shirt.
For example, on the Late Show with David Letterman, they cut to the audience quiet a bit during
the show. I wouldn't be surprised if Letterman or any other host for that matter would comment
on that if he notices that the majority of his audience are Ron Paul supporters.

No. We don't need name recognition. We need republican primary voters.

This is not 2008.

Obviously you do as you like but it would be nice if people would focus on what we need to do to actually win this thing.

If you remember in 2008, Ron Paul dropped off the face of the earth for a month
after Super Tuesday. I saw more mainstream news stories about Chelsea Clinton
than Ron Paul at that time. We need to make sure that he is not ignored like last
time & what I'm suggesting is practically free advertising compared to the million+
dollars that supporters spent on that blimp.

Since most of these shows are on the East & West coasts, we should probably
notify the Ron Paul meet-up groups in L.A. & New York. Or if supporters had any
plans to go on vacation in Los Angeles or New York, they could stop for a live
taping as well.
