i liked them both. but the second one was kind of bland. i think the first one would probably draw more people in to find out about Ron Paul though, because of how different it is. you have to remember that in a state like NH, they've seen every kind of political ad possible. i happen to think that cheesy and different will arouse their interest. and as we all know, once you draw them in to check out RP, they'll become a fanatic.

obviously other people have a different opinion than mine, and i'm not looking for a debate. thank you in advance for respecting my views, even if they differ from yours.

Hallelujah!!! I beleieve again.

I still think some of the emotional grassroots adds with music would be better, but this is a welcome move the right direction. In marketing, the ability to elicit emotion from the perspective buyer is the most important ingredient for any type of add creation. I think if they could move in the direction of eliciting the emotion of inspiration we all get from Dr. Paul, they will have perfected the formula.

They made 5 ads, by the looks of it, they're going to run all 5.

Presumably they will monitor the response from each ad (e.g. size of website spike, increase in inquiries & donations, etc.) and use that data to decide which ads to run more of and which ones to let fade away.

Opinions are no substitute for hard data.

Much better, but I still have one issue - what's with the spray-on tan????

But seriously, the first ad did have good points. It communicated that you didn't have to agree with Paul on everything to vote for him, it communicated that undecided voters can go Republican to vote in the primary, and it communicated that Ron Paul's live free or die message is very NH=oriented. The only real problem with the first ad was the piss poor acting.

I like this ad much better. But the 1st one is not that bad. It is meant to get name recognition and to start building that "critical mass" by quoting normal-looking Americans. It's the work of those notorious enemies of the First, McCain and Feingold (and Thompson).

Voting for that kind of crap should result in being disbarred if you're a lawyer and an automatic recall as having violated your oath of office.

McCain said this last week he'd push it through the Senate again if he had it to do over. At least Thompson shows some sense and says it was wrong. Thompson also advocates for instant online disclosure without donation limits. Sounds like Ron Paul. But I don't think Thompson has online donation transparency like Ron Paul does. I hope Dr. Paul brings it up at a debate soon. Fred just talked. Ron did it.

Hm, the second one definitely looks more professional. It will sure help with name and face recognition. It's a little boring though, having one continuous shot.

Now, I really have to ask, why did the first ad have an empty bluescreen? They should have made it black or superimposed the constitution on it like the did for the second. What were they thinking? If they would have done that, as well as fixed the fake acting and the negative opening line, it could have been much better.

I posted this elsewhere, but I think it is worth re-iterating:

"I do read Daily Paul, the forums, and stay in touch with key activists around the country. I can assure you that the concerns about this (the first) ad have been duly noted by the senior staff.

We remain confident in our ad strategy, of which this ad is a small part with a limited function...increase our woefully low name recognition among older conservative New Hampshire voters. Let me clear up a couple of misconceptions that seem to be floating out there.

One - we used supporters, not actors. The people you are slamming are...well, you.

Two - This ad is not running on Family Guy or Daily Show, it is running on Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, for example.

Three - Within the target demographic, the response has been very positive.

Four - It does not have an "amateurish" and "local cable" look for no reason. Please contemplate this further before lighting your torches and grabbing your pitchforks.

Five - This ad is the follow up to the "Bio Book" that was mailed earlier in the week and is designed to be one of many touches of these voters that we will make in the next couple of months

We, the national campaign, have come under blistering attack on these forums since day 1, yet look at where we are at. I just heard a McLaughlin Group commentator boldly predict that Ron Paul WILL be the big story coming out of the New Hampshire primary. We are flush with cash, have a massive grassroots machine and the best candidate by far. You all deserve much of the credit for that and we at HQ are deeply appreciative of all of your efforts.

We, the senior staff, are human beings and will make no claim to perfect knowledge or infallible decision making ability, but I think we have developed a track record of success that has also earned us a little benefit of the doubt."

Chances are they just posted it before the background was inserted. My guess is that the broadcast copy will have a different background.

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
-Gandhi

Most Christians proclaim to be Christians when they really aren't. The person I talked to really is though. I explained to her about borders here being more important than Iraq's and she said that that made sense.

I'll buy that for an out of the money one dollar call option one day prior to expiration.

They had announced that they had several ads (five as I recall) in production a few days before the first one was released. The 2nd ad wasn't a reaction to negative feedback to the first. OTOH, they may well have decided to release it earlier than originally planned.

It's good to make up stories and say you recall them happening. Improves your credibility.

Well I'm sixty and I like the second ad MUCH better. Those people in the first ad sounded like they had memorized a script. There must be hundreds of clips of real interviews of RP supporters that they could have drawn from, ones that were spontaneous.

I agree with some of the others here who would love to show the good doctor in his happier mode.

We probably like it because it talks about specific issues and specific actions. But we are not representative of the average voter. Most people don't care about issues as much as they care about how the candidate makes them feel and how others are voting. So the first ad probably caters to the sheeple, and the second one caters to us.

I was out Ron Paul sign waving today so I missed this until now. Thank God. I am so encouraged. Like I said, I lost a lot of sleep last night. This ad is exactly what I was hoping for.

Me too. I had dreams that the Ron Paul campaign kept on coming out with bad ads, and it was sorta weird. I think I'm obsessed.

But it was only a dream.

This is much better. I still like the concept of the first ad, just not the execution of it.... hopefully they will redo that one as well, then we'd have two great ads from the campaign.

Here is the New York Times article, dated 10/26/07, linked at ronpaul2008.com and discussed extensively on ronpaulforums.com. Clearly states that the campaign was preparing five ads, as I stated.

As I stated, they didn't come up with the second ad in response to complaints about the first. It was already in production
