Ron Paul polls very badly in the south. His best areas are in the northwest (Oregon, Washington) and central-west (Idaho, Montana, Dakotas, etc).

Paul may be a Congressman from Texas but he was originally from Pennsylvania.

2012 might be different; Newt will be gone long before primary season, White southerners won't vote for Cain, Mitt won't do well in the south; Palin could win it if she runs, but Bachmann won't poll well outside the midwest.
