Nah, before. We need to show that Paul can win the general in order for people to vote for him in the primaries.

They may ridicule it as a carnival tent, but the bigger the tent grows, the higher his polling versus Obama will be. The higher his polling versus Obama is, the more we'll be able to push the "He's the only one who stands a chance against Obama" message. To win the primaries, we'll need votes from people who don't necessarily agree with us on the issues, but who would rather see an R they somewhat disagree with than a D they vehemently disagree with.

As true as that OP is, less enthusiasm from his voting blocks means less turn out - which could really hurt his chances of re-election.

That said, if the GOP doesn't run Ron Paul, then we're just hosed by Rinse & Repeat.
