I love this guy but the style of the video ad is very dated and I'm cringing. Just stylistically. Good material in there, though.

6:22 Milton Friedman 7:07 Ronald Reagan

at 7:40, who's that on his lap?

That Reagan quote needs to be smattered EVERYWHERE, with Reagan's name in large font.

I don't think Ron would lie about the endorsement, but be ready to hear the argument above when you use the quote.

That Reagan quote needs to be smattered EVERYWHERE, with Reagan's name in large font. Agreed, last time it was in one or two ads, but that was about it.

That only seems to say he used it in an ad for a later election perhaps than the one it was initially given in. And putting a date on it should fix that. I had read about this and I understand it was originally a radio commercial, or voice over, so if that is true, I don't think it was faked. And as you say, Ron wouldn't have lied about it. Someone in his campaign MIGHT have run an old endorsement at a time when it appeared to some he was pretending it was recent. That might be a matter of protocol, not lying.

Further, at one of the presidential debates last time, one at the Reagan Library, I believe, with Nancy in the audience, people were asked whether Reagan would endorse them, and Ron said essentially that he didn't know if Reagan would or not but that in fact he HAD.... No one suggested anything improper about that. I don't think there is a question of 'whether' it was done. Possibly it was used in a later election, without being clear when it was from, that I wouldn't know.

Any Reagan endorsement ads would have no value anymore, because RP's recent trashing of Reagan. A candidates counter ads would feature RP recent words and RP's Reagan endorsement ad campaign would very quickly become a net lose of votes for him.

Ron never 'trashed' Reagan, he did point out that Reagan's administration ended up increasing spending, but Reagan had a Dem congress the last 4 years, too. He did like Reagan's instincts on gold and fought like crazy for Reagan, leading the Texas delegation supporting Reagan at the 76 convention. Ron calls it as he sees it and to the extent Reagan didn't live up to promise, he will say so. But that doesn't mean he didn't earn Reagan's endorsement, and doesn't erase the very strong support he gave Reagan before the Rockefeller Republicans would go anywhere near Reagan.

Unfortunately RP recently said "The Reagan revolution was a failure." That little sound bite with the date will defeat ANY long past endorsements.

Careful with the Reagan thing. Reagan and his people distanced themselves from Paul, and Ron later wanted to completely dissociate himself from Reagan.
