Hey,

When is the blimp from '08 going to start flying?

never.

edit: maybe on President Ron Pauls Inauguration day, that might be acceptable.

First answer sums it up.

Too expensive to have for a long period of time and can only fly under the best weather conditions.

Too many weather problems around the time of the election. Hurricanes in late summer/fall.

I think the weather part was the big thing that wasn't discussed beforehand last time. It was really disappointing when they had to ground it for days on end and we were still paying an arm and a leg.. we couldn't get it up to the Northeast at all, it ended up flying around Florida and doing nothing even there.

Think electorally, not educationally.

Depends on if anybody wants to make the initial effort to get everything organized for a blimp; and if enough people with enough money wish to donate to get it flying.

I liked the blimp. It would look awesome over Iowa.

Speaking of interesting advertising ideas, though...the Supreme Court ruling allows corporations to spend as much money as they want promoting a candidate.

Any corporations that are friendly to Ron Paul that want to blow a bunch of dough on ads?

Don't worry, the secret billionaire will take care of the blimp this time.

I don't think a Blimp will help educated folks about Ron Paul. I think most people are fully away of who Ron Paul is and this time they need to be educated about his views. Most people will just watch Fox and decide, so there is no way a blimp will help educate.

Probably when the monkey gets his diaper changed and a new RV.

Phooey on the blimp. At the time I suggested that we BUY a fleet of banner planes (5-6) --- it would have cost less, and volunteer pilots would still be flying them. BUT NOOOooooooo, y'all wouldn't listen to me! :D

As fun as that would be, I think our money would be better spent on direct mail or buses in Iowa.

A blimp is too slow. It would be much more impressive to get a squadron of volunteer banner planes in formation flying around. THAT would certainly attract attention, and wouldn't require as much money to boot!

We did that in Illinois. You should have come! (And yes, I like that idea too.)

Yes, but he's going to need to run a much better campaign than he did last time.

We need voters, not gimmicks. Ron himself will need to pound pavement, kiss babies, and eat chocolate chip cookies from local stores.

Why not all of us here form a corporation? Is anyone looking into this? Heck - maybe we can hire some lobbyists too and actually get a voice in Washington!

The Blimp made news, but ultimately wasn't very affective. It won't make news a second time.
