There's sometimes a cheerful lightness to the low expectations that come with being a no-hope minor candidate, but Gary Johnson appears not even to be meeting those. First Ron Paul, whose space he was primed to take refused to leave. Then he had a particularly rough, unfocused time at the first debate in South Carolina.

And now (http://veritasnm.com/2011/05/johnson-pac-violates-utah-warning-continues-to-solicit-donations-after-group-suspended/):

Our America Initiative PAC has been suspended by the Utah Department of Commerce Consumer Protection Division for failure to file its first-quarter 2011 financial report.

As a result of the May 12 suspension, it is unlawful for the PAC to “solicit, request, promote, advertise, or sponsor a charitable solicitation in Utah until the registration is reinstated.”

Come on, Gary, endorse Ron and become the 2nd best Senator in our lifetime.

Edit: That's not quite fair--I'll give him a chance to be as good as or better than Rand. But he's not going to be a better presidential candidate than Ron in 2012.

No, drop out after the straw poll. It's allows a second person on stage to discuss the drug issue.

I'm not so sure about that strategy anymore. I'd rather nobody discuss heroin. Having two libertarians on the stage only encourages the moderators to keep bringing it up.

People applauded in South Carolina - and the Fox debate guy even said he was surprised by the reaction.

Was that because a couple hundred Ron Paul/Gary Johnson supporters were in the audience? (I know there were about that many at the Tea Party rally afterwards.)

That's because the crowd was packed with Ron Paul supporters who were applauding everything he said.

What percentage of people in South Carolina do you think oppose legalization of heroin? It's likely very high; and probably sky-high among just Republicans in what is a GOP primary.
